Service: 1/ 5Food: 3/5Authenticity of food: 3/5Flavours okayish. the food is too oily. Overall not a must try place. cutlery was stinking.
Was a sudden visit to this place! The food and service were very good ! One of the better Indian restaurants in and around canary wharf! The service was descent and the food was delivered on time. There is a descent spread of vegetarian dishes. This restaurant is worth a try if you are around the canary wharf area.
It was an impromptu visit that we made to this place since we stay in the vicinity and this was on our list of places to try when the craving for Indian food strikes. We were slightly late for lunch so did not have enough time to order at leisure but I think we went with one starter, one lamb main dish (something that is loved by Hugh Hefner, that’s what the menu said),rice and breads. I’d say the food was above average, especially by London standards. Overall, would visit again.
Really good and authentic Bengal cuisine. The warm hospitality was a much needed change in London. The 3 course meal was filling, and over filling for my friend. The food was spicy and very well made
Not bad !!!—-Being one of the few Indian restaurants around, Bengal Quay becomes a default ‘must try’ place for Indians visiting Canary Wharf.I was a bit sceptical about what may be passed off as an Indian delicacy. Fortunately, this place won’t disappoint you.Yes, the taste for some items may not be exactly as per your expectations, but everything served has a distinct character and is enjoyable. Also, the prices are reasonable as per London standards and ambiance is pleasing. My only complain – the vegetable biryani had way too much potato, both in the rice and the gravey.Bonus – the evening walk from the offices’ area in Canary Wharf to the restaurant (along the Quay and then over the bridge) is absolutely blissful.
I’ve had Bengal Quay twice in the past fortnight, one take away and one eat in.The eat in was good though the take out was next level.GoodThe tenderness of the lamb rogan (this was a problem when I ate in the first time), the complimentary popadoms and sauces, keema naan and the staff. Bad(Not so bad, just not great) Garlic naan didnt have much garlic.DoHave a cobra while you wait. The staff are really friendly and open to a chat.Don’tChange each the spice level on a dish, order it how it comes. They know what they’re doing.
The manager was very patient and helped us order on the phone for takeway. We were not happy as the butter chicken was white instead of red gravy and was very sweet. We did call him back and he said this is how they prepare it, which we found very odd. The naans were burnt at the bottom. Fish curry was spicy and pretty decent.
