The GBK diner in Canary wharf is spacious with a larger than usual layout and the same all-american feel. The burgers have the same great taste and service is quick esp cos it’s never brimming with guests. It’s a good place for a quiet evening out as you can always find a cosy spot and enjoy your burger!
GBK as awhile I think are very considerate, as they explicitly state which chicken burgers are halal, making it easier for Muslims to order – no hassle of having to ask whether or not certain items are halal or not. This particular branch was quite nice I guess, had a retro feel however it’s very closely packed, to the point where it feels slightly awkward when there’s people sitting at the table next to you because it seems you’re all sitting together. The order process is similar to that at Nando’s, in that you go up and order at the tills. However, when I went there was only one person at the tills, regardless of how long the line was, meaning we had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to actually order our food, which was extremely annoying. It then took a slightly long time for our food to actually arrive. I ordered a pan-fried classic chicken burger and cheesy fries. The burger itself was nice, though it was dry due to there not being enough relish. However the cheesy fries were not enjoyable – the melted cheese itself was very bland and the fries were not salted, therefore I won’t be ordering them again. I have previously ordered their onion rings, which they are pretty much known for, and they never disappoint. I just wish the beef/lamb was also halal, and not just the pan-fried chicken.
I’ve been to the GBK in Canary Wharf and the on in O2. Food wise, the experience has been great. the service is good and the service is quite quick as well. The ambience which is quite American is well suited for a burger house and the staff is always very friendly. It will cost between 25 to 35 pounds for two, depending on the order. Certainly, worth an experience if you’re a burger person.
