There isn’t much choice (actually make that none) if you have a hankering for thai food in canary wharf. Although the setting may be nice and peaceful (probably as it is half empty at lunch time) it is because of the food which is ok but for the price. If you really want a peaceful meal then maybe go here. If you really want a good meal, don’t bother. quieteating.com
Was treated to a work event here, and had lunch with colleagues. It was busy on a Wednesday at lunchtime. Although the food did take about 15 minutes to arrive two of the group managed to make it to their 13:00 meetings despite a reservation at 12:00.I ordered swordfish with cracked pepper and lemongrass from the Chargrill section of menu with a side of sticky rice. I expected the fish to be more vibrant and fragrant. I could not discern any lemongrass, though there was some fried, finely shredded kaffir lime leaf on top of my swordfish steak that did impart a little lemony flavor. I was expecting considerably more from the cracked pepper, which was not nearly as fragrant as the Kampok pepper I recently had at Lemongrass in Camden Town. The fish was nicely grilled, but not done at a temperature high enough for me to consider it chargrilled. A wedge of lemon would have livened it up. Lunch today was nothing special, in fact a little bland, but pleasant enough. One of my colleagues had the sizzling scallops and prawns from the Specialities section of the menu, and that was the most exciting looking dish at our table.
Having only had a takeaway from here during lunch, it’s not fair to give it a full review, so 3.5 will have to do, for now.The food (Rendang) was nice enough but it needed more depth. It was a touch cold but that has to be expected with takeaway.Would like to sit in next time.
Beautiful decor and big dining areas but the food seemed mediocre. I ordered number 57). Phad Mee Leang with number 28). Pla Salmon Yang and a lemonade. Yummy but nothing to make me say that was great. It’s almost like you’re paying for the location and the decor. I went around 7pm on a Monday so was not busy at all. Plus gratuity was not optional (even though it says it is), the waitress just included it without asking when she handed over the card machine which I did not appreciate.
Sri Nam is located in the Canary Wharf District. The service is very good , but the food fell short of expectations. While the scallops were fresh the dish did not come together. The duck my main was nice and had good flavours. The food did not have the wow factor, but works for other by the looks of the patrons frequenting the restaurant. My rating on a scale of 1 to 10Ambience – 8Food – 7Service – 8Value – 7Overall – 7Taleens@v…….
Sad place, and not cheap either. Service was bizarre, had 6 different waiters. Food was eminently forgettable. There are other Asian restaurants nearby. And guys, try to smile even if you don’t mean it, on the middle of canary wharf, smiles are few and far between.
Probably the unhappiest Thai people you will ever meet. But then again they work in Canary Wharf, so can you blame them?
