My trip to this new Islington tapas bar surprisingly didnt include food. A friend and I were surprised when coming home from a night out earlyish on a Saturday, to hear music pumping from this restaurants doors. Our curiosity led us to the bar, which was shrouded by a lively dance floor that kept dancing to the tune of popular South American and Spanish tunes. The drinks were relatively cheap for London with a double vodka tonic coming in at about 6. All in all I was impressed by the lively and fun atmosphere of this restaurant come nightclub, and would definitely make a stop off here in the likely event of a weekend Upper Street bar crawl.
The billboard outside that advertises their paella is deceiving. I came in and had a variety of tapas which were quite good, but I was disappointed by the paella. The plate which is supposed to be a two-person serving is actually quite small, and the dish itself tastes really average. Paella is supposed to have an abundance of seafood and instead we were cautiously dividing the shrimps and clams, which I found quite annoying.Otherwise the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, it’s meant to be casual. They have wooden, rustic tables and chalk boards on the walls with the menu and specials. The service is really good and, although they have a good location in Angel, the restaurant is never too full so you can come in and sit down without making a reservation.
