Le Sacre Coeur is a cute French bistro down a side street off Upper Street. It’s location means it can be easy too miss, as Upper Street has many great restaurants that could distract you. It has an authentic feel playing upon traditional stereotypes, using little blue checkered clothes on the tables and vintage French film posters on the walls. One of my favourite French dishes is Moules Marinieres and always find theirs really delicious and filling, with a couples of slices of bread to dip in the garlic and cream sauce. They also serve a cheese Soupe a l’Oignon which is very warming in the winter. Everything is very reasonably priced considering this is not a chain.
This place has successfully managed to recreate the atmosphere and food of an authentic French bistro. My friend ordered beef bourginon which was beautifully cooked with tender meat and a side of buttery mash. I had the grilled salmon salad, a simple dish that consisted of salad leaves, grilled vegetables and a salmon fillet which was well seasoned and had a delicious dressing. Definitely come hungry as the portions are huge! The restaurant is well stocked with red and white wine, and you can order 500ml carafes which adds to the restaurants authentic appeal. The ambience, for me, is the real selling point of Le Sacre Couer. Its a small space that is very dimply lit, mostly by candle lights. The tables are packed close to each other and covered by blue and white cheque table cloths, giving the restaurant a real homey feel. The staff were attentive and friendly.Great restaurant, thoroughly recommended.
I absolutely LOVE this place! I came here the first time because I was looking for a place to have mussels and they have a great mussels special, you can have them as a starter for 6.20 or as a main course with chips for 9.95 which is a great price given that they are delicious and the portions are very filling. I had the Moules Mariniere which were amazing, and as a starter I had the Camembert Frit which is covered in a red currant and raspberry sauce and if you are a cheese lover, this is a dish that will definitely make you come back again. The atmosphere is lovely and the restaurant definitely has an authentic French look, with its small tables, rustic chairs and vintage French posters. I recommend coming here for dinner because in the evening the restaurant is dimly lit and they have very nice candles on the tables.
Amazing atmosphere. I love moules an were really good (for the Chef: pay more attention to the send, a couple of moules were really full of it). Our vote 5-
Just had an amazing meal in the Le sacre coeur. I always wanted to try out this restaurant and we managed tonight. Really enjoyed the food and experience.
I have been in the Le Sacre Coeur at least 5 times. I love this little bistro. Food is great and service is friendly.
The menu is quite comprehensive and you can find a lot of different choices for prices ranging between 12 and 18 for a main course. For my part I ordered a bib roquefort sauce, I adore the Roquefort sauce. The bib itself was very good, she just bathed in a semblance of roquefort sauce had no taste. Not good at all. As the wine was not bad, a little hot, and 18 for Cabernet Sauvignon not very good and a little hot, it’s a little bitter. Finally, for dessert the creme brulee is very successful against.
