My experience sucked. The best part were the Dough/Crust that were ok, mainly because of the firewood oven. Also the complimetary olives are really tasty. The rest was awful. The whole thing lacks love and passion. The waiter was ok at most. Seemed like he would prefer to be elsewhere. The pizzaman was beyond jaded. Absolutely no love involved when making pizzas. Makes them in 30 seconds. Put all the stuff more or less cutted in peices. Put it in the oven. The pizza comes out of the oven after 2-3 minutes and everything is wet lacking finishing. He gets it out and pour oil like crazy and he’s done. He then returns to his smartphone and sitting on the window.
Everything from the food to the ambiance at Pizzeria Oregano is pretty average. The furniture and fixtures look cheap and un-cared for and the pictures on the walls look like they were chosen from stock photos of Italy. The restaurant just looks too commercial and it is not a very warm place. The food was also not very exciting. I had the Melanzane Indorate as an appetizer and they were fairly good, except that the taste of the aubergine didnt stand out that much and there wasnt enough mozzarella, which was a bit disappointing. For the main course we had two pizzas which were shared, the Oregano and the Calabria. The Calabria was good but the salami wasnt that tasty and it wasnt as spicy as it should have been. The Oregano had toppings which were too cold and the pizza quickly became soggy and cold and I just wanted to stop eating. The service was not bad but the waiters were not really making an effort to brighten up the mood of the place. The upside to this pizzeria is that the food wasnt too expensive but overall I was disappointed by this place.
Authentic pizza/pasta type Italian. The pizzas are massive and well made – just be sure you like this style of pizza first (less sauce and cheese, more emphasis on fresh toppings..). The decor is basic but service was good. Prices aren’t cheap but not bad for Islington. Good option if you need a quick bite before or after a visit to Screen On The Green!
