Excellent Kurdish hidden gem in Liverpool – huge portions!. This is a hidden gem and well worth a visit. We went on a Friday evening and it’s a little daunting going up the scruffy staircase and into a room with just a few Kurdish locals hanging out watching Kurdish TV. However, our waiter was nice enough and brought us some complimentary soup soon after we were seated. Delicious. Were also given a jug of water without asking which was a nice touch (I think it may be BYO but not sure. Soft drinks available if you ask). Ordering was peculiar. I asked for number of starters but each time there was a smile and shake of the head. I don’t think he could speak much English but then again my knowledge of Kurdish food was poor. Eventually gave up and ordered our mains, which were huge and fantastic when they arrived. Simple Turkish/Greek style if you’re not familiar with Kurdish food. Came with rice to share and plenty of homemade bread. Really tasty and healthy tasting too. We were very full up and satisfied and the bill came to16.00 for two!!! Fantastic value. Location is actually fine, one minute walk from Lime St, and free parking outside. We saw another table of three arrive when we were there, who looked like regulars, but other than that it seems to be quiet unfortunately. I hope it lasts. They just need to be a little more organised (I think the owner/regular waiter was off on our night) less daunting to outsiders (though it’s still friendly as it is), and perhaps a bit of a makeover/tidy to make it really special. Please give it a try though, well worth it.

Although this restaurant looks quite down at heel the food is delicious and the portions are sizeable. With most main meals at around 5-6 it’s no wonder it’s a popular choice. Just don’t expect 5 star decor.
