Service and ambience is really nice. We ordered a couple of dishes I personally ordered the butter chicken which was delicious and creamy. For starters ordered the momo which please note comes as 6 pieces so can easily be shared. Overall good experience.

Jojolapa is the first Nepalese restaurant in Birmingham, located on Newhall Street. In a city well known for the cuisine of Nepals much more famous South Asian neighbour, the restaurant has held its own with discerning diners, so it was high time we tried it ourselves.AtmosphereTheres a buzzy vibrance to the place which contrasts fabulously with the moody low-lit interior, dark wood furnishings and carvings. We saw relaxed diners enjoying drinks at the bar as they waited to be seated. Jojolapa has the perfect night out atmosphere nailed.foodSteamed momo – chicken dumplings with mint and coriander sauce and Nepalese tomato sauce, chatamari (Nepalese pancake stuffed with vegetables and fried egg) and momo soup (chicken dimsum broth with noodles) were moreish starters. I was disappointed that the East Asian flavour to our meal pretty much ended there. There were very few main choices that I hadnt eaten in an Indian restaurant. I opted for one of the noted Nepalese dishes – special fish curry with nepalese spices. My guest plumped for the old faithful – lamb rogan josh. Both were nice enough but I yearned for more of the starters. The kulfi ice cream was a delicious end to the meal.drinksThere is a very respectable wine menu but Jojolapa is the natural home for cocktail lovers. The yummy jojolapa cocktail black vodka, midori and cranberry juice marked the start of the evening in style and Jojolapas twist on the mango lassi served with vodka and orange liquer was gorgeous.overallThere are plenty of Indian restaurants in Birmingham that boast similar dishes. But many of these restaurants can only dream of achieving Jojolapas cosmopolitan and sexy vibe seductively teamed with a friendly and super efficient service. dinebirmingham.co.uk

Superb Rogan Josh!. I’ve only been there once so far. Arrived without a reservation at nearly 10:00PM on a Friday. It was busy but not packed. Ambience elegant and spotless; service prompt, efficient, and friendly but dignified; food exceptional, led by a superb rogan josh. Prices reasonable. I stronbly recommend this place.

Birmingham best. After been recommend by hotel Duvin reception I went for the meal the restaurant was busy for the Thursday night 21/03/13 I was greated straight away by the hostess and took me to the table and ask if this the first visit to the restaurant I replayed yes and she made suggestion try something Nepalese from the menu and told me where the toilet was which was helpful cos it was long walk. I order drink and look at the menu i was little disappointed cos there was lots of India dishes. Head waiter come to take my order I wanted to try fish for my starter and lamb for the main course. He replayed if you like fish try our jumbo prawns kabab is the best in birmingham and prawns are huge I said ok and for the main go for award winning rogan josh this lamb have Nepalese twist ok i will have it with nan and rice. I was in business trip on my own fell bit strange hostess come over with newspaper and magazine and said will you like to read this while waiting for food which was a very good suggestion. After 15mins my starter arrived and it was huge and cooked to perfection with flavours I was in seafood heaven it came with 2 side chutney which went well with the prawn. My main course was the same again lamb was so tender with lots of flavour it went well with rice and nan. I have been to lots of Indain restaurant but this places food is the best I’ve tested I wish them a luck I hope they open the branch in London.
