The Rectory is a classy little place on Saint Paul’s Square at the heart of the jewelry quarter. The traditional English food is great quality, well presented and tastes delish. The 2 for 1 cocktail deal on Thursdays is also a nice touch, although the free cocktail has to be the same as the paid for one and they aren’t a touch on the bitters & twisted venues. I had baked Brie boxes for starter and the 8oz sirloin steak for main course, both were beautiful and really well cooked, and the belly pork looked fantastic. Service was a little sporadic with dishes served up at different times but all in all, a great tasting meal and nice little venue. gastronomicgorman.com
Fabulous Food!. We stumbled across The Rectory by accident on a rather busy Saturday night and what a piece of luck that turned out to be!The waiter did extremely well even to seat us and when the meals arrived we could see why it was so busy. I opted for the beef wellington on the recommendation of the waiter, my wife plumped for the sea bass. Both great choices, cooked perfectly and presented well. Only a small choice of desserts but since my wife commented that her cheesecake was the most delicious she’d ever tasted in her life, I guess I’ll have to forgive them for that.Overall the atmoshpere in the restaurant was perfect, and the service throughout was attentive without being overbearing.Definitely a place we will hurry back to.03 Dec, 2010Beef Wellington.
