We have seen the bar when passing through Kenilworth and thought that’s all it was, with maybe some bar food, so called in one early evening after a trip down south. The restaurant was behind the bar and it was well laid out with views into the kitchen (often a good sign). The staff were all thoughtful and attentive. There was an excellent offer on wine. The waiter suggested we taste and if not happy at all it could go behind the bar. We were happy. There was an excellent specials menu, which we were given time to mull over. I had monkfish and scallops, with an Asian twist? Excellent. A very good choice which ended an excellent day! Thank you guys
Good food, redeemed service. Just had my birthday lunch at the Alamnack. The whole affair didn’t start off too well, terribly short staffed and a real mix up with the menu. All in all it was heading square on as a disaster. However, after having a quiet word with the manager turned things around. I have always said Should not be measured by how good it was, rather than by how staff respond when you have a bad experience. On this note the manager at the almanack fully reconciled himself and I left feeling confident I would return. Perhaps not with a large party, but certainly with my wife. Food was great and they know when they have not hit the mark with service.
Average. Drinks are priced way to high and served with mountains of ice. Last night I was served by possibly the most grumpy and fed up looking young lady behind the bar who barely mumbled a thankyou.I have had lovely Roast dinners there and like the fact they source the meat from local butchers. I have also had average food more specifically at a lunch time when paying the ‘special’ price. I don’t think the waitress’s uniform is appropriate, I don’t want to see their tummys in t-shirts that look too small and find it unhygenic when they are dealing with food. The Almanac is the only pub/restaurant of its type in Kenilworth and can there for charge silly amounts for drinks, it has gone way too expensive for what it is and you don’t get change from 20 for a round of 4.I find it very inconsistent in terms of quality and service however the decor and layout is perfect for meeting with friends.
Dissapointing over priced and very average The staff seemed more interested in getting their own food than ours We won’t be back
Pub food at restaurant prices!. My brother raves about this place, we had a distinctly average meal here though, prices are quite steep and the food is pretty standard pub fare dressed up as something more akin to a top gastro-pub. The pub itself is great, airy, bright, friendly, but the food just doesn’t justify the prices.
