Fantastic restaurant with excellent flexibility. Car parking at the rear. Friendly welcome, good selection of wines and beers. Really tasty food well cooked and presented. Service very good.Probably the best pub restaurant (gastro pub) in the Midlands.
I found cross to be an okayish place – being a Michelin star restaurant, it should be made sure that the tables are clean – now I have a stain on my shirt because someone sitting before me spilled their drink on it! Highly disappointing – no apologies offered by the staff!Vegetarian tasting menu was not an exciting affair – just the gnocchi stood out for me which was fresh otherwise everything else was forgettable. Not going again for sure..
From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable. Although a busy night being NYE, we never felt rushed and had plenty of time to enjoy the amazing food. The menu was vey enticing and it was difficult to make decisions given the great selection. The onion broth as my entree was rich and flavoursome For mains, I devoured the duck with cider jus. The duck was perfectly pink and just so delicious. I really enjoyed being in the back part of the restaurant near the open kitchen Seeing the chefs create the dishes in military precision added to the ambiance of a great night out.
Went on a cold Saturday night, was the 5th visit and it put me off for life which is a shame as I’ve always thought I this place as a great. Table booked for 715, arrived at 7 for a drink which took an age as the waiter didn’t know how to make our drinks, we, weren’t seated until 730 when the restaurant wasn’t busy. The wine we wanted wasn’t available, was advIsed on another more expensive but couldn’t have it at original wines price. Starters came, partners scallops were not cold but not hot, the acompanying squid was hot so maybe a kitchen timing problem? Service delay?? My pidgeon came out hit but slightly over done. Mains were fantastic but again came warm not hot!? It was a snowy night, luckily we were placed near the fire but there was no other heating so it was slightly uncomfortable for GF in skirt/heels. Due to cold and standard not reaching previous experiences we didn’t stay for coffee or desert, shame.
