My first visit to Toto Peppe. On entrance you notice the beautiful interior and clean, neat dining room, small and cozy. The staff were friendly and we were greeted after a short while and showed to a table. Service was slow at times and the waitress never came back to check on our drinks even though there were only 2 other tables. Food was ok, nothing wow. Had much better. Pizza crust was a bit dry. Friendly owner, although spoke Italian at the table to my partner, which is a bit rude. He did apologise though.
When I stepped in into this place, I feel like I’m in a bar in Italy! The ambience, wood fired oven, the friendly Italian people and last but not least the food are ok (the food was better before but the quality has gone down slightly). They only serves pizza in the evening but during the day they have some bread, fried stuff and pasta. Their coffee is still good!
Like the other reviewers of this place, I was bowled over by my visit here and am definitely going again, many times. The pasta we had was home made with ingredients from Italian small suppliers. And it was wonderful. Wine great value and great tasting. Atmosphere and service equally wonderful, and it really does feel like being in ItalyI just can’t fault it!
It’s like stepping out of Lewisham high streetinto Florence, Naples or Rome!Great new and very authentic modern Italian restaurant. Run by the experience of Antonio (Toto), who you’ll recognise from running Gennaro’s deli next door and business partner Peppe. I’ve eaten there twice now and the Pizza isgreat, plus they have a good selection of other dishes, or just go foraperitivo.
I’ve been shopping at Gennaro’s deli since I moved to London 22 years ago. It’s wonderful to see a dream realised like this- such a beautiful place, such a lovely atmosphere, with a lively, friendly people at the bar all day drinking coffee or aperitivo and snacking.I had dinner with my family there- 12 of us, 3 kids, 3 pensioners and it was just heavenly. The service is fantastic and friendly, you are urged to feel at home, and all the staff pop out to say hello and ask how the food can be improved (it can’t).The wine list is incredible- we had a Malvasia (white) and a Nero D’Avola (red) that were outstanding and ruinously drinkable, while for the adventurous the Greco Nero is a showstopper- dark as pitch, smells like a woodland ruin, tastes divine. For the little ones, the Peppa Pig pizza, but all the pizzas are wonderful, with a London twist on the Naples base and heavy, heavenly toppings from all over Italy. Each is enough to stop a big hungry man in his tracks. The pasta is fantastic- a selection of old-fashioned regional specialities which I’m working my way through. The desserts are perfect- all of them. But the almond parfait and the Baba get special praise.Honestly, I can’t thank Toto and Peppe enough for an evening of pure joy and for bringing this place to Lewisham
