We went to Pushkar to have dinner. We had ordered a table for 7 but due to last minute surprises we expected 8 people to turn up. The restaurant made us feel very uncomfortable and were rude cause they needed to arrange seating for an extra person.Going to the food , since we were quite a big group we tried the entire bread basket along with some dhaal, butter chicken , mutton and lamb curry. As for vegetarians like me , they have good spread of paneer , Bhindi and potato curries. The bhindi curry wasn’t great and very garlicky for my liking. The quantity of all dishes are in small portion as you would normally expect in a fine dining restaurant. The drinks menu has quite a descent selection of cocktails and a few mocktails. Would definitely recommend the grape fusion mocktail for non alcoholics.Overall if you are prepared to put through a bit of bad service in a really busy restaurant you might enjoy the food and the very well crafted and maintained decor of Pushkar.Service – 2.5Food – 3.75Decor – 4
For me, Pushkar has always held the top spot for Indian Cuisine in Birmingham. The decor, the welcome, the cocktails, the wine list and, of course, the food, has always been slightly ahead of the game.We weren’t disappointed last night. Starters consisted of a Trio of Mixed Murgh and a Veg Platter. I’m not sure what the Grilled Scallop Haryali added to the mix – it tasted of, well, Scallop!Mains were Lamb Ghosht, Kadhai Murgh and Dal Makhani – a real delight and great companion for the Saint Clair Sauvignon Blanc. But guys, what is happening with the gents washroom? Some serious TLC and plumbing required here!Overall, another great experience, although as the competition for food in Birmingham hots up, Pushkar will need to fight to hold on to that top spot!
One thing that stands out for this place is it’s decor, It looks great and it feels great to be there. Location which happens to be Broad Street is another big plus. Visited on a friday night around 10 and it was almost full though it has got lots of space. Food is very nice however quantity is less, Drinks menu is ok. All in all a good place for a lovely fine dine experience.
One of the best fine dine Indian restaurants i have ever been in the UK. Delicious food with proper Indian Tadka and good ambience. A must go to spend quality time with ur friends and loved ones.Thank-You.
The decor is classy and everything looks perfect. Unfortunately that seems to be the main focus. Overlooking the bit about when we were seated after quite a bit of dilly-dallying even though we were the second guests to arrive in the entirely empty place(we didn’t have a reservation), the lady who took our drinks order sneakily managed to sell us papad (popadoms) with three itsy-bits of chutney. The mustard prawn were nice as starters – quite different and good to taste, the lamb curry we ordered just didn’t feel special. Overall I def won’t be going back.
On a stag weekend in Birmingham we had a meal in pushkars overall can’t complain about the meal itself but found the menu to be very limited on top of this our bill included a 49 service charge, if we wanted to give a tip we would have gladly. On top of this the overall bill was 442 gave them 450 still waiting on the change. So when you visit this place make sure they advise before hand they advise you of this wee small matter and if you give the additional funds ENSURE THEY GIVE YOU YOUR CHANGE BACK
Not bad, lovely decor but annoyingly average food, all frills no substance. Much better to be found in Birmingham, try Channi’s on Stratford rd simple place with fantastic food.
