Thai Edge is unarguably the best Thai restaurant chain in Birmingham. It offers a high class restaurant in a unique setting complementing Thai culture within modern oriental design. The staff provided us with excellent service from the moment we walked in and were very attentive to our wants and needs ensuring we had the wonderful Thai Edge experience throughout the duration of our stay. In addition to this, there was traditional Thai music playing in the background which made the whole dining atmosphere very relaxing. We ordered the Stir Fried Duck in Tamarind Sauce (Phed Nam Makam) and the Sweet and Sour Chicken (Gai Prew Waan) both with a side dish of Egg Fried Rice. Bearing in mind these dishes do not come with rice/noodles etc. so you are expected to order a side dish of what ever you fancy. This was a bit of a hassle as we didn’t take this into account and had to order more once our food came and wished it just came with the food as a set not an extra unless you’re fine with just eating the dish on its own. Nevertheless, the food was superb. Each dish was complimented by its respectful sauce and the duck was wonderfully cooked, so tender it melted like butter on the tongue. We ended the night with dessert. We ordered MangoPassion Cheesecake and Bannana Fritters. The cheesecake was slightly too sour for our liking and seemed to lack a sense of density which made it seem as if we were just eating cream instead. Although this was slightly disappointing, the banana fritters brought it back as it was moreish and sweet with the perfect balance of cold (Vanilla Bean Ice Cream) and warm (the fritters) simplicity at its finest. All in all, even though it was fairly expensive, we got our value for money as well as having a great dining experience and are looking forward to returning again!
