It was distinctly average. Expensive for want it is, but you pay for location. Steak pie was nice but fish finger baguette not worth it. Beautiful base for local walks up to the tarn and food will warm you up.
We had a friends meal which was efficiently served but ordinary. Chesters next door a better bet. Not much for vegetarians and less for vegans. Why is there a tv in the dining area? Bit tired but staff were pleasant

We ate here twice in one week, as it was so good. Everyone loved their choices. Casual dining. Animal friendly. Go to the Talbot’s bar to order drinks.
Good food reasonable price. As like many places in lakes this is a dog friendly restaurant. Friendly staff, always busy.
My wife and I and our two teenage children called for a drink after walking all morning one beer, one wine and two lemonades £16.00+, this used to be one of my favourite hotel/pubs but I will be dining/drinking elsewhere at theses prices.
