The service lets this place down badly. Staff are very inflexible. They are at times rude and it’s not what I expect from a business championing artisan food suppliers and small businesses. As a former regular it’s been sad to watch the decline in standards as it’s a good concept. They need to retrain and refocus on serving their customers in an empathetic and warm manner.
Bang in the middle of Lower Marsh street you’ll find the middle class food&drink dream that is Greensmiths. You can walk in and be confident that anything you buy will taste the shit – caf is no exception.[Greensmiths is a trendy deli/butcher/cheese/etc with a caf]A small, simple space up at the back, best to avoid peak time but even then you’re likely to get a seat. Each item on the menu name-drops products available in the shop. Eggs are as decent as any other decent eggs you’ll have for breakfast – but really you’ll want some tasty meat from various UK regions. (Advanced warning that the Full English might let you down if you’re a Big Big breakfast type – it’s quality not quantity tho)Orange juice beautiful, all other breakfast components hit the spot, friendly young staff. Perfect on a weekend morning to combine an honest breakfast/brunch with a spot of trendy food shopping to cook an extra special meal that evening. Well worth a visit to Greensmiths.
Good coffee, but food options are limited and mixed in quality. Great selection of groceries, wine and bread for sale. However the star attraction has to be the ginger pig butchers on the ground floor… Try their 56 day matured steaks!
