This is a good place to go and taste a little bit of England. A cosy, dark pub that serves a good beef pie with a smile and just great to run from the rain and have a good beer.

Our closest local, this is a no fuss proper pub with decent food too. Burgers are very good and salads and pies great as well. Specials are always available and prices are fair. Their veggie burger is not great but the halloumi and mushroom is fantastic. Good choice of beers and drinks, friendly staff and sport events broadcast. Well priced too. pastabites.co.uk

The Horse and Stables seems like a great pub to visit for a few drinks when you’re in Lambeth North. It’s very close to the station and has plenty of room inside to sit and have food and drinks. There’s a pretty good selection of drinks, both beers and cocktails so no matter what you like you can find something good. The other interesting fact about this pub is that it has regular comedy shows upstairs so it is known in the comedy circles. There’s a small stage and the upstairs room is a bit small, which creates a very nice intimate atmosphere. I’d recommend checking out the comedy as it’s a way to discover new talent and sometimes you can also take part in the improv comedy jams and see what it’s like being on stage.I may not go out of my way to go there for drinks, but if I’m in the area again I’ll definitely stop by for a pint. darcrose22albionadventures.blogspot.com

Not the best looking pub from the outside (or inside for that matter) but a pleasantly relaxing evening spent with some friends, a few drinks and a selection of burgers and pies. The burgers are definitely not gourmet, but decent enough and do the job in a fun buzzy atmosphere. It doubles up as a hostel so there are some beer swilling travellers here, but it’s still relaxed and fun.Nab a booth, it’s definitely the best place to sit! inher30s.com
