I’d been dying to try The Village Kitchen after seeing it stuffed to the gills with the fashionable Walthamstow Village ilk for weeks. We booked a table for a quiet Monday evening and were given a superb seat by the window: good sign. We ordered wine, chicken tandoori and pork belly … Folks, it exceeded my expectations. The chicken was tender and beautifully flavored; my pork belly had the perfect crackling on top and the little pearls of sweet apple did wonders as the accompaniment.Although we were too full for dessert, our bill arrived with a jar of pick ‘n mix. Now if that isn’t appealing, then I don’t know what is.Book to avoid disappointment. angloyankophile.com
I am going regularly with my partner to this amazing restaurant.Everything is fresh and tastes beautifully. The menu is one page but includes all kinds of tastes.A gem in Walthamstow village that many of the locals keep it for themselves!Good prices during the week as you can have starter and main (and believe me it’s enough) for only 15!!!!
Went there couple weeks back for Sunday lunch 10 set menu, chose the salmon which was topped with sundried tomato pure , a really big yorksire pudd and potato’s. The food was seasoned very well, it was tasty and I was more than satisfied, also tried my mates lamb and it was simply Devine. I recommend this place 9/10
Great Value. Can’t go wrong here Monday-Thursday, 2 courses for 12.50, and the food is great. The staff are attentive. Shame the other 2 VK restaurants closed in E4 and E18 but am thankful this remains. Keep up the good work
I LOVE IT!. I have been visiting the Village Kitchen fairly regularly since the beginning of the year (probably been about once a month) and have never had a bad experience. It is just up the road from me so it is a lovely treat to take a book and sit and relax while being looked after by Hannah, the ever wonderful waitress. On my first visit I was putting cracked pepper on my meal and she overheard the fact that the pepper grinder was almost empty and got me a fresh one. Now that’s service above and beyond what you would receive in most places I suspect! The food has always been lovely, cooked just as requested, and there is no skimping on the servings. The menu has changed recently and they now offer kangaroo. It is good to see something so different and unexpected in one’s local restaurant. The white chocolate cheesecake is to die for, and Hannah rustles up a fabulous Raspberry Bellini too.It is also lovely to be recognised when I walk in and greeted in such a friendly way. Hannah also knows I am there to relax and asks the kitchen not to rush my meal so I can enjoy myself (without my even having to ask). Terrific service.I recently took friends there on their final night in the UK after travelling around Europe for 3 months. After all their experiences, they reckoned their meal at the Village Kitchen was one of the best that they had had.Great value, highly recommended and I’ll be back!
