I have eaten in Teras on several occasion and the food is always of the highest standard. But what puts it over the top is the standard of service, the staff are polite professional and helpful to a fault. Recently I required last minute catering for a significant birthday for my wife. They help me plan a menu base on the numbers I had and really saved the day delivering a hot perfectly cooked me with just a days notice. I really can’t thank or say enough about them, that the restaurant is always busy even during the week speaks volumes.
Teras – faultless Turkish grill in E17. We’d heard good things about this place, which has been open for a coupla months. It’s on the site of a caff which was run by the owners’ dad, now retired. They’ve refurb’d in proper Turkish style – not exactly haut design or nothing, but definitely doesn’t feel like your average kebab shop. More like being in your actual Istanbul.Briefly (pressed for time):- if you’ve previously enjoyed the best of the Turkish places on Green Lanes, or in Dalston or Stokie, you’ll will cry hot tears of joy at the news that Teras has landed in Wood St.- the lamb shish is the best we’ve had, like, ever. And man, we kebabbuated summa cum laude. – Likewise the Turkish bread, warmed on the charcoal grill over meaty smoke – addictive.- olives (good) and bread (baked on the prems) are complimentary- chilli sauce and garlic sauce are home-made and you can bloody tell.- squid starter – as tender as it gets- chicken shish and lamb shish plus-yoghurt-tomato dish (agh can’t remember name) also fab- Pide (Turkish pizza) – kids really enjoyed it. – everything very reasonably priced – portions are expansive. – I’ll just mention the addictive smokey charcoal-y bread again in case you didn’t hear me.Staff were capable, and the female maitre d hit just the right note. Bring your own bottle (for now) – grab from the Co-op a few doors down on the other side of the road (some wine bargains at the mo). We went on a Wednesday night and by 8 all but one table was occupied – so we’re clearly pathetically behind the curve. Go go go – before it gets rammed.
