Visited the brasserie for an evening roof top experience.. the view is absolutely beaut..(discounting the fact that it was quite busy and noisy, drowning the live music)..The drinks, specially the cocktails are to die for..my personal favorite was from their winter warmer menu – Stranger Things – absolutely loved it.Food and service was quite good.. Reservation is a must!

Always refused to go there as I imagined it would be the ultimate tourists restaurant with bad food, expensive bills and not much beyond that. I finally gave in and I have to admit I was wrong on almost all counts!Nice views, a bit too noisy but the service was very good! The food was great! Good menu, nice taste, mostly proper ingredients with a lot of flavour and texture…I think it is a nice place especially if you want to take out of towners for a casual dinner with a nice view and good food.

Super food ice-cream?. This has recently been launched at that stalwart of fabulous dining establishments with amazing views, Oxo Tower. It has been ages since I was here and so it was great to revisit and try out the latest addition to their menu. You may think that those ever so trendy super foods that we are encouraged to eat don’t go with a dessert but think again. These were actually really delicious. The flavours are charcoal & strawberry ripple (my fav), baobab, chia seed & cranberry and bee pollen & raspberry ripple. There were 6 of us at our table and we all had differing opinions as to which we liked the most but the consensus was, they all tasted good. Being that the ice-cream had super foods in it it made us feel a bit better about scoffing the lot. A tasty and unique way to get some goodness inside you. We also decided to have some nibbles while we were there. We chosecalamari, chorizo, hummus and falafels. All were very good with my fav being the chorizo and calamari. There were also plenty of cocktails on hand, You know the drill, you can find great cocktails in loads of upmarket bars but these ones were strong and very, very good! Definitely worth the money (not as expensive as other places). What could possibly make it better? The stunning sunset we saw from the terrace overlooking the London skyline. msfoodblogger.com

couple of months ago, I took advantage of a meal deal for the Brasserie at the Oxo Tower- 3 courses and a cocktail for 30 per person. In my eyes, the Oxo Tower is a bit of a London icon. The building was in Love Actually (when Andrew Lincolns character storms out of his warehouse flat to stare pensively at the river) and in Thor (when Natalie Portman was on a disastrous date). Overlooking the Thames, you can see the London landscape from the 8th floor restaurant and bar. We walked the scenic route from Blackfriars tube station so that we could walk over the bridge. The lift to the restaurant is just by Cafe Nero at the back of the building. Once you zip up to the top, the reception desk will have someone take you to your table. I did notice when we arrived that they called my reservation the Sunset table as they exchanged a couple of glances with each other. Sounds good, no? NO. I had the sun glaring in my face, slowly lasering my eyeball throughout dinner. The deal was a preset menu. For starters I had gazpacho with a drizzle of olive oil, served with a crispy breadstick and cheese. Duck confit with puy lentils was my main meal and I had a side order of steamed tender stem broccoli. Dessert was Carameli mousse with peanut cream and banana cake, and Robin had a very decadent looking Eton Mess. The food was okay- I know! It looked well presented but my duck was a little bit bland. The banana cake in my dessert was pretty tasty though- really thick with chunks of banana in it.I would definitely return to the bar at the Oxo Tower to enjoy the view up high with a drink- its definitely worth a visit to the restaurant to check it off the London To Do list. theawkwardblog.com

I’ve been here a few times over the years mostly for special occasions and absolutely love it. I went here on Saturday evening for my birthday. Service was excellent. They noticed it was my birthday despite not saying at booking or making a fuss. They decorated my dessert as in photo without anyone asking them too. I had sea bass for mains – scrumptious. The lamb shank and duck were also hits with my friends as well as the lemon tart with lime meringues, flourless chocolate cake and spiced rhubarb for desserts. I had pigeon for my starter, it was tender but probably an acquired taste. I’d go for something different next time, but that’s me. Had a great quail starter here last time. Good wine – we all have different wine tastes but all enjoyed the Picpoul de Pinet, Chateau de la Mirande, second on the White list. Excellent choice of cocktails too – Singapore sling is my pick. The Views over London are amazing.

Came here at 5pm for the Summer Sunset menu (30 + 12.5% service fee pp) and it also includes a very refreshing citron sherry collins (cocktail) to start. A bit of confusion when I walked in as my friend said she’s at the balcony on the right side (ie brasserie), then when I walked in to the brasserie to enquire, the waitresses pointed me to the restaurant side…Anyway the balcony had a lovely view of the Thames River especially if you get to sit right by it. For the three course meal I went with the Gazpacho for starter, the confit duck for main and finished with an Eton mess for dessert. The gazpacho was not too bad but quite awkward to drink/eat from. The accompanied manchego cheese was great. The confit duck was really amazing with crunchy skin, and I’m not sure what the white sauce was but it went really well, the only thing I didn’t love on that plate was the warm puy lentils. The dessert was lovely and light and the tiny meringues on top really makes it extra special too.My friend quite liked her well-cooked salmon however the banana cake she got looked a bit odd as the cake is a very thin and compacted slice. You can also choose to top up with sides including smoked rosemary sea salt chips, salad and vegetables.Overall I thought this was a well-priced menu with great service and beautiful view for a sunny evening.

Interesting fact – The Oxo Tower’s illuminated signage comes from a time when advertisements visible from the Thames were not allowed, so ingeniously 3 windows on the tower were designed spelling out an O X & O.There are 2 options when having tea here – one can opt for the standard tea – 24.5 including a cocktail or a more lavish experience – these range from inclusions of tea, chocolates, champagnes etc to some even designed specifically for kids. We opt for the standard 24.5 option. My choice – Chocolate Bubbles while Friend K opts for Picnic Berries. Both options come with cocktails but they’re more than happy to switch my cocktail over to a non-alcoholic variety and to counteract all the chocolatey-ness I choose an Oriental Chill – Lychees & lime juice washed over with ginger beer.I found it refreshing and a very pleasant tang compared to the sweetness of my desserts. The Berry cocktail is a Rum & Strawberry concoction with Lime Juice and syrup – but this one was deemed far too sweet (Like drinking Jam apparently) and was barely half drunk. My Chocolate Bubbles platter comes with- Chocolate Hazelnut Macaroons- Blondie Choc Mousse with bitter choc pieces- Caramel Sponge with peanut butter truffles- Chocolate PavlovaMy favourites were the Macaroons and Pavlova. Oh and the peanut butter truffles. And the pieces of honeycomb you see littering the plate. So basically everything. I was a little worried that the chocolate plate might be too sweet and overwhelming but it was a good balance of flavours and the aforementioned cocktail helps keep the sweetness factor down.K’s Picnic Berries definitely had the edge in Presentation and included:- Raspberry parfait in a chocolate sandwich- Strawberry and champagne mousse- Popcorn ice cream, blueberry compote- Mixed berry and orange cheesecakeThere was even a mini blueberry muffin thrown in for good measure. The raspberry parfait/cake & the popcorn ice cream were the clear winners here! All in all, we had a great afternoon – the service was attentive and friendly and the views, well the views are what you really come here for, but the cakes were a close 2nd. inher30s.com
