Vegetarian cafe/restaurant. Serving freshly made snacks, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Roots and Fruits has been a vegetarian cafe for over 20 years, we have recently updated our menu to be predominantly plant based. We have worked with the wonderful Laura Thomas PhD to make sure that the food we serve is keeping up with what vegetarians and vegans want! We talked to customers to find out what they wanted; less cheese, fried food and more vegan meals. We launched the menu for National Vegetarian week and had great reviews from regular customers and new faces. The menu will now change seasonally to ensure we always have fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Customers favourites from menu are: The Whole Bowl - chipotle black beans, brown rice, mango salsa, guacamole and vegan cheesey sauce. And, Jerk jackfruit- Caribbean sweet and spicy jerked jackfruit served with hard food, wraps and coconut sour cream. Both are vegan and gluten free. Our specials board which changes daily, is now always vegan, Our coffee is wonderful too! Its Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance and Organic and our delicious range of cakes are vegan making the perfect accompaniment. For the food conscious on the go, all our food and drinks can be taken away. Theres also a tasty selection of vegan treats-marshmallows, pumpkin seed butter, locally made chocolate, you can take home and save for later. Keeping it local we support local artists and let them display work in the cafe, its ever-changing and worth a peek in its own right.
