Lovely atmosphere and really happy they had Murphys, but the Sunday Roast was really poor. The servings of meat were tiny (see photo / one bite taken), all our dishes were served 20-30 mins apart (all ordered at same time ; party of 7) and a lot of the items were lukewarm-cold.Owner/manager needs to sort this out.
Beautiful building with so much character. Its got such a great decor, high ceilings, little nook and crannies to sit. Have been there twice now, dinner and Sunday lunch. The beef pie was so delicious, a tad salty but really tasty and perfect for a cold rainy day. My first English Sunday lunch was here, delicious roast chicken, covered with lemon and thyme. Great on tap cider, and dogs are welcome too which I find a lovely and foreign concept. The staff were friendly too!
Vintage feel pub with really good, constantly changing selection of house ales. I’ve tried Sunday Roast on two occasions – Topside was nice and pinky in the middle and Pork Belly went really well with Devon Apple Sauce. The only inconvenient thing was waiting time – on both occasions it took more than 30min for our dishes to arrive. The rest, pretty decent. Would definitely recommend for socializing/boozy night out with friends!
The ambience in this place is incredible, as it’s an extraordinarily old pub that has a real vintage feel. The beer and wine menu’s are extensive, although the dinner menu is quite minimal with a lot of vegetarian options. I ate the horseradish crusted salmon with chat potatoes and roasted fennel and it was great! Very hearty, filling meal.
