Amazing burgers! Had their beef burgers on two occasions and my friend and I split the chicken jerk for half of my burger last night. Cooked medium rare, well packed with trimmings and a good red slaw to boot. They have two house made hot sauces one is smokey bbq and the other is basically borderline ghost sauce. Be warned it will blow you away! I had no hesitation drizzling it over my fries to start, that’s about as hot as I can handle my hot sauce and I do love it. Decent selection of local craft brews, the Titanic pale ale 4.5% was our choice. Beers around 4.5+I really like this bar, good ambiance and funky tunes complete with a killer burger and crafty brews make The Old Ship Inn a winner.

Finally popped in for lunch after walking past the Old Ship Inn on the way to and from work everyday and was pleasantly surprised. We didn’t go for anything adventurous, both opting for beef burgers- simple but good. They were a decent size, the patty was juicy, the bun was soft but still held everything together. The coleslaw could do with a bit of work but the chips were crisp, and I really liked the Dalston Chillies sauces they have too. With that hipster, shabby chic vibe I had brushed this pub off as a place for drinks only- they’ve got a good selection of local craft beers and a nice atmosphere when the after work punters roll in, but I’d definitely come back again for another burger! connieconsumes.com

Tucked away up a little alleyway Ive always been a little intrigues by this place, wondering if we were missing out on a little gem as we bypassed it for the Cock Tavern. After Ribstock the other week we thought wed have a nightcap on the way home and ended up here. They were holding a mini cider festival with live music, the type of which seemed rather appropriate for a cider festival in other words folky. It was reasonably busy but we perched at the bar and had a couple of drinks, Stephen managing not to commit to a can of beer once finding out it was priced at more than a fiver. They had quite a range of beers in fact, with prices to fit accordingly, and a few ciders as well although I stuck to wine on this occasion. I quite liked the place. It certainly seemed to have its own personality, with a its naval touches, and other quirky moments, like the tree of china. And the table that had seats that could be folded in or out depending on how many of you needed to use it. jaminaward.wixsite.com

Had a Sunday lunch here and it really was excellent. We had beef, Lamb and nutroast. All were lovely cuts of meat with a good selection of veg and awesome roast potatoes. Only gripe was that we didn’t get enough of the tasty gravy. The house red wine is also very good 🙂
