I was told this is one of most of authentic Vietnamese restaurant to try if you visit Hackney. I ordered an bowl beef pho with Vietnamese coffee, thinking it wouldn’t go wrong since these are classic duo. But I had to say I wasn’t impressed at all. The broth itself was bland that I couldn’t taste any spices nor bone broth. The sliced beef and herbs were not generous enough for the price of 9. I was given few Thai basil, beansprout and lemon (not even lime). Even the Pho chain did even better job (considering it’s a chain and owned by non-Vietnamese).Sorry not impressed at all. yummyjubbly.com

This is a really good place! If you really want some good Vietnamese food for a really good price, this is definitely the place to go! Every lunch they have this deal; one starter and one entre with a cup of jasmine tea for a set price! If youre in the area, I definitely recommend this place! Good food! Good service! And a really good deal!
Decent pho. Just get ready for your clothes to stink because ventilation is poor.
Tre Viet Trying. After a gig at the Hackney Empire friends took us to Tre Viet. The restaurant was half full and staff were quick to welcome our party of four. We were ushered past empty tables to the rear of the room to share a table with four other diners, where the confusion began. The wait people (sic) constantly confused the two parties’ orders and it was the third or fourth mistake before we realised they believed we were one party of eight. We ordered a main each with spring rolls to start and a round of drinks. My main arrived first (before anything else). One of our party is allergic to coriander and interrogated a waiter at length until it was understood what dishes were sans evil herb. To her dismay when the dish belated appeared (after being offered our neighbour’s meals) it was adorned with the despised coriander. We resolved this by physically returning the dish to the front desk, after which our starter arrived. That being said, the food that we did eat was generally of acceptable quality, although the portion size was lacking. We strongly suspect the dishes are not cooked fresh, as some of our original choices were not available, and some arrived with surprising speed. One main and one drink each totalled 61.93 including 5.63 service charge that we would have deducted, if it not for our over-riding desire to depart. Poor service, OK food. It is what it is, not so cheap and sometimes cheerful.
Tried tre Viet….pretty good, food was great
Today I had Crispy Tofu and Roast Duck Soup, Exelent..I love the Tofu and the soup, it was not too salty and tasted home made stock. I will be back for more.
