Oh I do like to be beside the seaside. And being beside the seaside is always fun but eating there has always been chancy. Now with the extremely talented Richard Phillips making another of his marks in Kent, this time with The Pearsons Arms (A well known Kentish haunt for South London Gangsterdom in the past) we have the opportunity of very fine dining but at middle of the road prices. The menu changes very frequently but the staff provide an excellent meal and service and so far I have not had a bad experience ever in Richard’s restaurants and this one is a gem!

Back sure you book. This place is seriously good, although service sometimes to keep up with demand when they’re busy , which is usually is and deserevdly so.

A silk purse from a pig’s ear.. Stopped off for a late lunch on a wet Wednesday afternoon and the place was packed. It may have been half-term and there were a few kids dotted about, but the vast majority of diners where adults who seemed in no particular hurry. perhpas they were all teachers. We had the crispy pigs ears, some triple cooked chips and a plate of a spicey white bait to start. The were all excellent. The pig ears are a gourmet take on pork scratchings, without all the salt and E numbers. I had half beeen expecting whole ones akin to those dessicated ones you often see in pet stores that Spock wore in Star Trek, but they’d been sliced. The roast bellyn pork I had for main, was scumptious, with a light crispy crackling that was still succulent and didn’t threaten to break my fillings.Still very much a pub, despite a recent refurb and change of ownership.A real find and I’ll definateky be back.
