Step aboard Barge Resourceful on Maldon's Hythe Quay and enjoy a tearoom experience whilst supporting Cooks Barge Yard and this historic vessel. Resourceful was built in 1931 as a cargo carrier and joined a fleet that once numbered over 2,000 strong. Today she earns her living as an unusual tearoom, serving lovely homemade food supplied by Maldon businesses. Whilst on board you can learn more about the Maldon barges and also Cooks Barge Yard on the Quay, established in 1894 and still used for barge repairs today. Profits from the tearoom will go back to helping maintain the Resourceful and the rest of the Topsail Sailing Barge Fleet keeping them afloat and in good condition for the future.
