So the new twitter account and name began with a bang last night. I had a new mission to find the best nachos in town and with the help of a few twitter friends decided to begin at The Beagle in Chorlton. For those of you not already aware Margo & Rita the Mexican food vendor are permanent residents at The Beagle. They do the food, The Beagle do the drinks, simple.I first came across Magro & Rita at the Manchester food festival but it was time to try the Mexican delights on offer with my body temperature above 6oC. Half term meant we had all day to spare so got there about 5, not to take advantage of the free nachos between 4 and 7 but it would be rude not too. You dont get many nachos with chopped tomato and fresh coriander in abundance so it was an enjoyable little teaser. This was pleasant and cool on the palate with just enough kick from the jalapeos. The Beagle has a huge range of guest beers, ales and ciders so I had to try a couple. There really is a drink to go with every taste and every meal. The main course was a no brainer as we both went for the pulled pork burrito (9.95) and we were not disappointed. I had to be all prim and proper to begin with and use a knife and folk, and that first bite of moist pork, refried beans and fresh tomato was a flavour explosion. This went well with the guacamole and complimentary hot sauce. Perfect combination. The burrito came on what looked like a small baking tray, for no apparent reason I thought it was a nice little touch. A side of beer battered onion rings (2.50) topped this off nicely. I tweeted afterwards that I experienced good service, a good vibe (even though we go there early), great food, amazing beers and even better music. The bar feels homely and welcoming and I hope many of you take shelter in The Beagle during the cold winter months. As you can see I will have to return to try the two verities of nachos on the menu. 35 Good deal.
