we had dinner at Caffe Caldesi on Saturday 14 June and had a wonderful experience. the food was excellent, as was the service. we cannot commend the manager Maurizio and his staff enough for looking after us so well. first class and we look forward to coming again.
Good if your local. Food was good but read better on the menu than eating it. Pasta was the best choice. Service was too slow, overburdened by too many guests or, worse, did not care as much as they tried to make you believe. If it were my local I might go back and invest in the place and try to find out whet was really good on menu. As it is it did not strike me as a destination i shoud make my way to.
Not as good as it should be. Given its proximity to my office, I’ve eaten here on many occasions. I’ve never been blown away but it’s always been adequate. My recommendation would be to eat at the ground floor bistro as its better value and they do a reasonable set lunch. Given the fact that it is connected to a cookery school you would expect the food to be slightly better than it is but it is adequate and sometimes it can be quite good. If you are unlucky enough to get the wrong table you can be very intimate with your neighbour without meaning to be and this isn’t the place for privacy. thefoodjudge.com
Average, over-priced. I live in Marylebone and have been to Caffe Caldesi many times – when I ‘need’ my Italian fix. The food is average but totally over-priced for what it is – both the cost of the wine and the individual dishes. DO NOT eat the Sunday breakfast there – really bad and again, multiples over-priced for what it is.
Rip-off & Poor Quality. This was the worst italian food I’ve ever had, such poor quality food and over priced! such a rip-off… around 80 pounds per person. Do Not Recommend it at all!!! Tonight I’ve had dinner with 3 other people at Caffe Caldesi (118 Marylebone Lane, London W1U 2QF) and what a terrible quality, terrible service and definitely a total rip-off!!! The food was made to the quality of a 17 year old student. Had a bottle of wine for the price of 3 bottles of wine at a top restaurant. Overall this was my first and last time that I would consider going to this restaurant. I spent roughly 70 pounds per person for the worst experience in my life. Do not recommend it at all.
Just paid 10 for one glass of wine. Nothing special! Won’t return.
Just ate there, having asked for the 13.50 set lunch they tried to charge us more claiming it was Monday to Friday only. No sign said this, and we said to the staff in advance that we want this. Not convinced this was accidental.
