But alas that never happened so one day I was cycling around this market when I saw this restaurant and decided to try out the shawarma .I took a take away to eat later.The service was quick but the food was ordinary.Try to find a better place maybe to excite your taste buds doctorfoodiereviews.blogspot.com
A really nice and laid back spot to go and hang out. In a really busy area this is one of the few places you can enjoy a nice quiet meal or drink.Lebanese food is usually very good and it’s no different in this place. They do an excellent shawarma so that’s what I’d reccomend.They’ve got shisha and nice hot drinks so you can go and cozy up during the winter or anytime really. The service is excellent and staff are very friendly.
Give me Arabic food anyday and I will wolf it down in a flash. Diwan here is not anything out of the ordinary and actually reminds me of the no frills Arabic restaurants back in the Middle East with the shawarma grill out in the open and the lovely smell wafting through the air and enticing passers by. Though Diwan doesn’t have the grill on the outside, it’s hard to pass by and not step in to grab a shawarma. The decor is simple and brightened with the purple and yellow design but it’s nothing fussy and the service is mediocre. But, the difference lies in the price. In the Middle East, a shawarma is cheap and the easiest option to grab and go. Here, it’s obviously going to be more expensive but I haven’t really got full satisfaction from eating a shawarma in London. Diwan does manage to do a fairly good job of it (though on occasion it has been less than satisfactory) and the menu isn’t all that limited. The cheese rikkat and kibbeh are decent at best and I would advise you to skip the sambousek since it’s not really fried as it should be, Instead, pick the ‘fateyer b’sabanekh’. I do wish there was a place in London serving ‘fateyer lahem’ (lamb) though since all the restaurants just seem to serve the spinach version. So if anyone does know about that, give me a shout. I really enjoyed the hot mezza, falafel plate with pita. It was hot and fresh. Quite filling, and the service was quick and friendly.
