Fucina is a celebration of Italian food, and my friend and I were ready to celebrate! The restaurant is a classy and stylish design that appeals to the eye from whatever angle you are sat. It doesnt need to be flashy to impress, and this also goes for the food well cooked and understated. There was so much to choose from that we enlisted the help of our waiter and he came up with the idea of sharing the plates of food. This way we got to taste as much as we could. It was a great idea. To start we went for the whole burrata Tri Colore – roast cherry tomato, basil pesto, walnuts and the Raw sliced yellowtail – olive oil, lemon, basil & a hint of truffle and these worked well together. A great start to the meal.We loaded up on main courses because we were especially hungry and everything sounded so good. The food was amazing at every bite! We selected octopus with artichoke pure, tomato & pecorino sauce and then the whole wild sea bass with sea salt, olive oil, lemon. The sides dishes that looked to complement these were the truffle mash and the charred broccoli with anchovy & chilli dressing. These combinations just tasted divine and we didnt want the main course to end.As always, though, we left space for that final sweet flourish of dessert. And we didnt hold back. Our waiter was so enthusiastic about the dessert options that we decide on no less than 3 of them the tiramisu (for two), the Sicilian cannoncini (three pieces) of ricotta & pistachio crumb and the pistachio and zazelnut gelato. Each was fantastic in its own right and we would return just for a dessert in the future!
