WHAT WE ORDERED:Complementary Citrus Crisp Appetiser: AverageSoft Shell Crab Tempura with Truffle Ponzu and Sour Mango: GoodBlack Cod marinated in Harissa with a Thai Som Tam Dip: Very GoodNirvana Baby Chicken – Chargrilled Chicken with a Mint and Miso Dressing: Very GoodBeef Bulgogi with Purple Potatoes Chokha and Achari Carrots: Excellent Roti Canai: Very GoodSteamed RiceTHE GOOD:Nirvana? No, but this eatery offers sophisticated decor and some extremely good tasting pan-asian fusion food. The menu offers an array of interesting flavours to please most palettes. THE BAD:Some will find the menu offers a limited choice and, for the price, a few of the starters are a bit small in portion size. THE UGLY:The speed and standard of service was unacceptable! The restaurant was 4 months old at the time of our visit. However, some of the staff had only recently started employment, were confused about the menu and poorly trained in customer service. This generally resulted in the service being all at sea. We were served by 5 different waiting staff during our meal, all of varying competency, and some did not communicate with each other about our order. Another forgot our drinks and her spoken English and comprehension was poor. Noelia was the one exception and she fortunately came to our rescue halfway through service. This was not helped by the ridiculously slow kitchen service, which almost resulted in my partner and I walking out! We were informed that the kitchen was understaffed, but only 80 minutes after ordering! Consequently, we ended up waiting 40 minutes for our starters and a further 1 hour for our mains. This was the case for the preponderance of diners. Annoyingly however, the couple next to us arrived after we did, but had their main course even before we had been served our starters! We only persevered because our starters had been very good. To our relief, the mains were even better and, in all honesty, the Beef Bulgogi was stupendous. Basic improvements in service standards would turn this eatery into a very good restaurant. The restaurant is part of a 5 star hotel. While the food did not disappoint, during our visit, the service was not 5 star and was certainly not nirvana.
