I got confused initially between the difference between Royal China and Royal China Club. Was the club more exclusive? The prices certainly seemed to be so. The atmosphere is quieter than Royal China and the food marginally better. However, for the price, I rather eat more at Royal China. quieteating.com
Disappointing. Overpriced, poor food. And when we complained, poor service. Won’t be going back. For the money you should expect, and get, memorable food. It really wasn’t very good at all.
The tastiest dim sum i’ve had outside of Hong Kong and the service was also impeccable. The 15% service charge and 5 for a pot of tea though felt like a penalty charge and reeked of greed and meanness of spirit.
Don’t have the lobster. We were also only given an approximate weight for the lobster that we ordered, and because of the manner in which it is prepared (chopped into pieces, and stir fried), it is very difficult to judge whether you have been served a 5lb or an 8lb lobster. The lobster itself was coated in the ubiquitous cornstarchy brown sauce with fat slabs of ginger and coarsely sliced scallions stuck in it, and the overwhelming flavour was distinctly that of MSG and hot wok (ie, stale oil). This was disappointing as I had been expecting a more refined treatment seeing as they have gone to the trouble of installing tanks stocked with live crustaceans. Royal China Club is an overpriced establishment serving standard Chinese restaurant fare.

Having dimsum there was excellent. Must go there early or book if you can! Its always busy there. Evening meals are reaLly nice. The lobster was excellent!
Refined but is it worth it?. Slightly more refined menu and service than the standard royal china outlets, I personally would not make this my regular for dim sum. The food is good, don’t get me wrong. I particularly liked the prawn and chive dumplings as well as the fried udon with veal. It’s great for a one off or occasional splurge if you enjoy having lobster and chilean cod on your dim sum menu but personally, I’d queue for the other royal china a few doors down
