A place with a wholesome experience. Good entertainment, good shisha and good food.- As far as the food is concerned, its reasonably tasty, reasonably priced and portion size is good. But there is a minimum order per table on days when you have entertainment (belly dance and live music).- The shisha area (outdoor seating) is a little cramped and over crowded. The entire road is full of shisha cafes. This place is prices at least 10 pounds costlier than other places.- Live music was good and the belly dance was good too. Middle-east music. The only let down was the rude waiters in the dining area taking the food orders. And the Manager was rude as well. Impolite while taking the order, crockery does not get cleared after the food is eaten, cold and inhospitable body language of the waiters. In all, this is a good guys only place for some shisha and entertainment..
Moroccan cuisine, very tasty and portion is good, very helpful and knowledgeable staff. In this time of the year sitting outside for a shisha and moroccan tea is great
The service is absolutely terrible. The stuff is disrespectful and they really don’t know how to speak to a customer. When we enter the restaurant it was almost empty and they said they are fully booked and they let us seat opposite from the entrance door. The food was nice I can’t say nothing against the food but really the stuff and the manager is disappointing. After we finish our dinner we wanted smoke shisha and they said we need to order at least 1 shisha per 2person and we said its absolutely fine. After we went outside for shisha they waiter has warned us that we are allowed to seat and smoke shisha max 1.5h. While we were smoking shisha they didn’t look after us we had to ask to change the charcoal many times. After 1h the waiter came and said our time is finished and we have to order again 2 shisha to seat there and just before that we ordered 3 coffees and we wanted leave after drinking the coffees but they said if we want seat and drink coffee we need to order at least 2 shishas again. I personally went to many places but haven’t seen that terrible service anywhere else. Choose somewhere else if you don’t want to be infamous with your own money. NEVER AGAIN.
Amazing food and great portion sizes. Definitely a great place for Lebanese food! The meat is well flavoured and the starters are delicious. The service is also great but this restaurant is slightly pricey but always great for a romantic date.
I can’t rate this restaurant highly enough. The food was spectacular and very reasonably priced considering the superior quality and speed of service. The staff were professional and courteous as one would expect. The menu had bothmediterraneanandoriginalmoroccandishes; all food was immaculately presented andabsolutely delicious. I would certainly go back again, this place is perfect…
Sidi Maarouf is located in the London home of the Middle East Edgware Road, and boasts a stunning interior with draped silk ceilings, dark wood furniture and plenty of gold. The menu features a variety of traditional dishes from Morocco with names in Arabic and English, alongside descriptions of what to expect from each dish. The restaurant regularly plays host to celebrities including most recently Selena Gomez, as well as local ex-pats and hungry Brits.Initially our waiter was quite haughty and reserved, but we were then passed to a different waiter who was much more friendly and approachable. Clearly the first one was having a bad day. We were recommended a beautifully light white wine which would allow the big flavours of our food to stand out. The wine was from Israel and beautifully balanced with sweet and sharp flavours, and by the end of the evening we had happily downed the entire bottle. For food we were advised to go for some of the most popular dishes in Morroco, including baba ganouj, ras-el-hanout prawns, char-grilled home-made spicy lamb sausages, and chicken breast cooked with potatoes, an olives and preserved lemon sauce and a mixed grill. This is no English mixed grill though the flavours in that dish were epic! Our started of baba ganouj, ras-el-hanout prawns, char-grilled home-made spicy lamb sausages arrived within 10 minutes. The baba ganouj, with loads of flat breads, was impeccable. Dotted with pomegranate seeds and drizzled with olive oil, baba ganouj will always be my favourite Middle Eastern delight. The prawns were a little dry but bursting with sweet flavour, which wasnt overpowered by the rich, warming ras-el-hanout spices. The lamb sausages were very dry, but they had been cooked on the char grill which can make cooking a little more difficult. The sausages reminded me of warm chorizo but with a big hit of garlic. Wrapped in one of the flat breads with a little baba ganouj delicious! Our table was quickly cleared and re-arranged for the mains. My tagine of chicken came in a beautiful presentation pot and dramatically had the lid taken and the stunning food revealed. The chicken was gorgeously moist and soft (plus a very good size portion), with plenty of sauce. Oh! The sauce! Rich but light, fruity yet meaty, salty and sweet; the preserved lemon and olive sauce was something I am going to try to create again and again at home. It was just delicious. The potatoes were wonderfully soft but not crumbly, and bright yellow in colour. I had my tagine alongside boiled couscous and a light cucumber and yogurt salad. The yogurt cut through the richness of the sauce and helped me finish the big portion. In the evening we were treated to a belly dancer show. Although I found stuffing money in her bra an unpalatable practise, we enjoyed the live music, singing and atmosphere she brought to the restaurant. We sat enjoying our wine, giant fruit bowl and chatting without ever feeling rushed or intimidated to buy more food. Overall I would recommend Sidi Maarouf as a great Friday eatery, or grab your girlfriends to enjoy the brand new wine menu and delicious mini-dishes. theyoungdomesticgoddess.blogspot.com
Had a meeting around the Edgware road area, and decided to pop into Sidi Maarouf based on recommendations I had from friends who had been there.I wasnt disappointed. Decided to keep it simple and went for grilled lamb and rice. Food was absolutely delicious, alongside the customer service being very prompt. The tables and seating were good, the decor inside was beautiful, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming.Great place to meet with friends, and would highly recommend the restaurant.
