For three people we might have ordered just enough. For starters and mains: Humus, Cacik, Calamari, Aubergine, Asparagus, Manti, Borek, Ali Nazki and Tandir Iskinder. For desserts: Kunafeh, Rivani and Chocolate TartOur host Yousra was very helpful when taking the order and kept coming to check if we needed anything. The food was well cooked and tasted delicious.
Amazing hummus! Also tried the eggplant dish and was not disappointed. They have some nice wines from the Rurkish region which was a nice surprise. Very friendly service even on a busy night.
Definitely the best Turkish restaurant in London! The must try are the Kofteh with Potatoes and the Feta & Spinach. I wish I could try more options but will visit this place again for sure as I just felt guilty for not trying other great stuff in the menu! And yes the service was just amazing!
The four of us, ventured to Yosma on a Wednesday night. The restaurant is bigger than expected. We were told to get 3/4 dishes each ( a cold and a hot meze and either a Mangal or clay oven main, with or without sides/salad) since the portions are quite small. We collectively ordered the hummus, aubergine (Patlican) and the sea bass dish (levrek marine) for cold meze. Got the hellim, beef sausage (sucuk) and turkish dumplings (manti) for hot meze. Got the pomegranate and tomato salad (gavurdag). And for sides we ordered flat bread, patates kizartmasi and broccoli. For mains we ordered the lamb breast (kuzu kaburga) and the spinach (borek). The stand out dishes for me were the hellim, borek and the potatoes and broccoli! For dessert we got Knefe and Warm Tahini Cake. Kunefe was so delicious, and was definitely a new flavour and taste. The warm tahini cake with hazelnut ice cream again was amazing! I would definitely recommend this place and will come here again! Even though the portions are a bit small, the food is mouth-watering.
I was introduced to this place by a Turkish friend. I fell in love with the Turkish drink salgam! Mezze is very very good. Not too many options for vegetarians as a main course. I recommend the potato fry – it’s a side dish. The dessert and Turkish milk with orchid flowers is also worth trying ! Nice ambience , would like to return
Yosma is a modern Turkish restaurant on the outskirts of Marylebone. The dining room is large and open with a moderate volume permeating throughout the room. The menu is divided into cold/hot meze sections, mangal, clay oven, and sides/salads. Everything is plated in a way that makes it easy for sharing, and the food lends itself to a tapas mentality.Hummus (3/10) – I found this to be a bit underseasoned, lacking salt and garlic. Shame as the consistency of the hummus was quite niceSalt-cured mackerel, pickled Roscoff, apple, dill (7/10) – A very well done cure adding depth of flavor and a firm, desirable texture the mackerel. The pickle on the onion was gentle and thoughtful, and the rest of the accoutrements worked well to make a harmonious dishTurkish dumplings, stuffed with lamb neck, yogurt sauce, chilli oil, mint (3/10) – All was lost in the sauce. The sourness of the yogurt being the first and last thing that I tasted in the dish. I think if the dumplings are meant to be as doughy and dense as they are that something crisp would lend a welcome textural contrast to the dishBrek (Spinach, feta, pine nut, mint) – (8/10) – Certainly one of the best dishes of the evening for me. Borek is usually a pastry filled but in this instance, a play on canneloni. Lighter than both places it derives influence from while drawing clear influence from both. I thought that this was everything that a modern interpretation of something should be.Short rib of beef, tomato, aubergine, peppers, yogurt (4/10) – Sadly I thought this dish did not realise it’s potential due to lack of seasoning as well. Everything was prepared well, the beef cooked to a point of melting tenderness, but it was bland in flavorLamb rump, oak fired aubergine, yogurt, burnt tomato (7/10) – Much better was the lamp rump dish. A lot of the same components as the previous meat course, but this was seasoned and the peppper in this dish benefited from a hard charKnefe (8/10) – A cheese filled pastry topped with lemon syrup and pistachios. This is not easy on the waist, but totally worth it when done right. The caramelisation of the vermicelli was beautiful and provided a lovely crunch that did not yield once topped with deliciously sweet syrup. This dish is popping up in more and more restaurants and this iteration of it is certainly one of the best I’ve hadWarm Tahini Cake (8/10) – The exterior of the cake was rigid and crispy, while the inside oozed a delightful stream of tahini. The hazelnut ice cream was the perfect accompaniment making for an almost overly indulgent sugar rush.Overall I had a very mixed experience with the food at Yosma and that makes it a hard place for me to rate. There are certainly a couple things that I would like to order again, but inconsistencies in the food would make it hard for me to justify a revisit. I will say that the cocktail list is filled with interesting (and delicious) drinks and that the staff was some of the friendliest you’ll ever come across. instagram.com
Yosma is almost everything you don’t want from a Turkish restaurant. Eating here is a great way to spend money without getting much back but if you’re expensing the bill, go for it:The service was fine and the drinks are great but expensive. The portion were very small, not particularly tasty and the very style over substance. If you want Turkish food – go to Likya in Golders Green instead
