Not sure why 4 stars. This restaurant must’ve have been good in the past as I have no idea why it has 4 stars on here. My mum and I visited The Rocks to have a quick lunch before going to Tate Britain. However, ‘quick’ could not have been further from the truth. We were welcomed in a friendly manner and the menu looked good as I love Turkish/Greek food. It all seemed fine; we ordered some coffees to go with the food and they were alright. The food however, took a ridiculously long time for what we ordered despite it not being particularly busy. A lady who arrived after us was served before us and my mum was served a good 10 mins before I was so she had finished her baguette before I even began my falafel wrap (I was told it would be a few more minutes after already waiting 20 mins!). I ended up waiting about 25-30 minutes for a wrap and chips. The wrap was seriously bog standard; clearly packet falafel mix and cheap hummus with tasteless salad. We ordered a tomato, mozzarella and basil salad; the cheese was also tasteless and unless the ‘chef’ has lost his taste, they had run out of basil and tried to fob us off with mint instead! They had also ‘ran out’ of a number of things on the menu that I overheard from other customers like soup and paninis even though it was only about 1pm. What I also thought rather odd was that they told a couple to move to the table next to them without explanation. They also charged us the wrong the price for my mum’s baguette and did not bring the tap water we ordered. It is a shame as I really do appreciate and try to go to independent cafs as much as possible but this really was a bad experience. I hope they were just having a bad day but I would definitely not go here again. If going to the Tate, try their cafe instead, it’s much nicer.

Delicious & Delightful – every time. Upon a recent trip to the Tate Britain we decided to pass by The Rocks which has become a real favourite of mine and my fianc. The food is exquisite and at a great price for the overall quality of the food the vast options that the menu has to offer.Having eaten here many times before I went for a firm favourite in the form of a Mediterranean breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice and an americano. My other half chose eggs benedict with salmon, a fresh fruit salad and ginger and lemon tea. The service is always exemplary and the staff are very friendly. A real gem within the London caf/brasserie scene. Highly recommended.

Terrible coffee. I had lunch – it was okay. But the coffee – it was bad. My ‘strong latte, tasted like it had been filtered through less than fresh grinds, rather than pressure extracted through the expensive expression machine behind the counter. The milk was frothed rather than textured. There is such a diversity in London that quality equipment does’t guarantee a good cup. A lot rests with the ‘barista’.

Fantastic. Waiting for The Tate to open at ten found this wonderful gem open early and offering breakfast. Seeing it served my favourite coffee bar none, went inside not even sure if they served a vegetarian breakfast…..but delighted to say they do. And what a treat. A beautifully cooked breakfast marrying eggs and mushrooms with grilled haloumi and olives among others. The flavours all worked so well together and altogether was a bit different. I am only sorry I shall have to wait until next in The Smoke to once more partake.
