Disapointed with the food. I went to this restaurant with family, for my sisters birthday, i ordered the soup for starters which when it arrived looked very clear and watery with a few cubes of potatoes in it, i thought usually soups that were clear could be flavorsome, but it was not, so i added seasoning, but still not much taste and it was also only luke warm, i told the waitress who suggested i seasoned it, i said i had and she asked me if i wanted her to take it back in the kitchen so they could season it, i said no as i didn’t want to much salt. It seemed to me they had not used many ingredients in it and possibly put to much water in it. also the portion size was small. For our main meal, three of us ordered the Lamb Sunday dinner and another the beef., the portion size again was small, there was 2 small slices of meat put on top of 3 small cold roast potatoes a Yorkshire pudding that you had to pay extra for and a drizzle of gravy, there was no new potatoes or mash offered, the veg came separate, which was carrots and green beans they only brought a small portion out that was between 4 of us, but also other people in the group had ordered something different, they had no veg on their plate so it was possibly between 6 of us, we had to ask for more veg and gravy, but they were very small amounts when they brought them to us. I would not recommend this restaurant to any one.

Summer Days. Crompton’s at The Waterside Bar & Restaurant. Spent a day in summer 2011 sat outside in the garden which overlooked the Bridgewater Canal. Lunch food was excellent. Hot, tasty and lots of it. It was a sun trap outside and with a bottle of wine and good company. What a great day! It was made even more enjoyable because of the friendly staff.
Lunch Menu. Took my elderly father, sister and daughter for lunch on a weekday. The menu was not very extensive however what actually arrived was gorgeous. Toasted sandwiches were enormous on what looked like home made bread. Lovely crisp fresh side salad and the best chips I have tastedn anywhere! Fat, crunchy on outside with plenty of soft potato on the inside. Dad had a black pudding stack and loved every delicious layer. Everything was tasty, well presented and there was plenty of it. A firm favourite venue from now on.
