Ordered thro just eat. 40-45 mins delivery.1 hour later phoned Modern China, said my order would be 7 mins. 20mins later told the driver could not find me. They re-cooked my food!!! & sent my order in a Taxi!!! He could not find my address either….. was told my order was returned & i had 3 free meals…… from food i never tasted !!!!.This was a trial for several major orders……. NO WAY… So called manager LAUGHED at my repeated calls too remidy this fiasco….DO NOT USE……
Food was ok, i’ve had better. Staff was very rude, unwelcoming and didn’t understand us. The so called ‘buffet’ and you can only have to dishes at a time? Def won’t be coming here again.
Cafe Style Chinese. Dined here with family recently, on 7th Aug to be exact. Not overly impressed I must say. The place is accessible with plenty of parking but I didn’t see an entrance for wheelchair users.The food was so – so, we can get better from our local take away. We had a dish (fried mushrooms) in which there were almost raw onions, I asked the waiter to take it away and bring one with cooked onions, he didn’t understand and said it was his first night. The owner came over and asked what the problem was. I explained and he took the dish away only to bring another back with the same problem. I told him that this replacement wasn’t cooked correctly and he said that that was the way it was cooked and they couldn’t do anything about it!!I pointed out several other dishes on our table that had onions in that were cooked right and he just shrugged and toddled off.The other dishes were ok, but as I state earlier, we can get better from our local take away. These little facts combined with the cafe style interior (bright lighting and tables too close together) and quite pricey dishes mean that we WON’T return. Not exactly a fine dining experience.The meal averaged 30 per head with everyone choosing a starter and a main course, and plenty of wine.
Perfect. Food gorgeous, service amazing, place lovely, price unbelievable. set meal for 2, large starters, 2 meals, 2 sides pud, coffee, drinks throughout meal 31.15. bargain
Good Food, Poor Staff. This was our first time the Modern China @ The Florence. We had a table of six for 20:30. We all had the Special combination appetiser to start. 4.00 per person, very poor value for money! It consisted of the following per person served on a plate; 1 small spring roll, 1 piece of prawn on toast, 2 wan tun (tasteless), 2 small spare ribs and enough sea weed for 3 people. Overall this was no way enough for a total cost of 24.00The Bar Prices a bit on the expensive and the staff just didn’t seem welcoming or interested. When clearing tables they just lean over you no matter what you’re doing.To finalise the staff are poor, the food good but the portions are a little to be desired.
Modern china. Been here many times food is consistantly good although you have to wait sometimes even if you have booked.some of the tables are cramped if fully occupied.
Good for takeaway too!. The food from here is very good. I haven’t been disappointed yet and have eaten either here or from here probably 20 times or more. The restaurant is clean and the staff friendly, and the food is pretty good value – especially if you have the set menus (e.g. Set Menu A for takeaway for two is 18 and feeds two people to very full twice).I suppose if I had to pick fault I’d say that the place just isn’t dazzling and often the waiters have difficulty with English, but really these are minor niggles.Oh one other thing – the takeaway service is lightning fast – you can usually pick up in ten minutes.
