About
The Coldwell Park Caf is situated in the heart of the Pendle countryside, and at the foot of Boulsworth hill, boasting beautiful views over the neighbouring reservoir and woodland where you can enjoy home cooked meals, freshly baked cakes and fresh ground coffee. The caf forms part of the 18th Century Inn which is now a charity run, residential and outdoor activity centre for young and disadvantaged people. In the past, the Inn has acquired a notorious reputation as the principal venue of gamblers from a wide area. Many police raids took place over the years, the largest occurring in October 1922 when a military-style operation resulted in mass arrests and fines by Nelson Magistrates. The fines totalled over 1800, a considerable sum in those days. The building was then badly damaged by fire in October 1924 and was left in a derelict state for almost 50 years until it was renovated to what it is today. The caf now serves good, honest food at reasonable prices for the general public to help raise money and awareness for the charity.
