LYDIA MANAGER DISHONEST UNLAWFUL. ADDED SIX EXTRA ITEMS TO OUR BILL AS SHE CLEARLY THOUGHT WE WERE DRUNK. I WAS ON DIET COKE. WANTED TO CALL THE POLICE BUT MY FRIEND REFUSED. SERVICE SHXX as typical Korean service is. Drinks WATERED DOWN. Vile staff, illegal drugs being smoked inside, but food gd despite small portions. Be very aware of being conned. Lydia didn’t like being caught out. Pictures of proof to report to trading standards. Picture shows SECOND REVISED BILL STILL OVER CHARGING/ CONNING US
If you fancy going back into time and eat like a king/queen of South Korea – This is your chance. Han is a beautiful restaurant in New Malden (South Korea Town) of London. The restaurant has exquisite wooden interiors and even better food to match it’s cultural grandeur. We tried their Mandu, Kanpoongi, Kimchi and Soju and beer cocktails- which were mind blowing! We then went in for Dak and Pork Belly bulgogi on BBQ which was fantastic. We then tried Chicken and Tofu Bibimbap which were very different from what other restaurants in the area have to offer. Wicked place! Must try if you are a group of people looking for a good dining experience.
If you are a huge barbeque fan, and miss the fun of BBQ in winters, han is an excellent place. We started with Soju and beer, the combination tasted nice. We went for Mul Mandu(dumplings), Kanpoongi(batter fried chicken with garlic) both were very good. We loved Kanpoongi so much that we ordered it twice. Then we moved on to the barbeque and tried the Dak Bulgogi (chicken) and Dwaeji Bulgogi (pork belly). The experience of barbequeing meat on your own was so satisfying. The pork belly was best tasting. Finally, your Korean food experience is not complete if you don’t try the Bibimbab. It is very comforting and tasty. We shared one Bibimbab amongst two people after all the starters and meat. Excellent experience I would say and makes me want to go to South Korea more after this visit. Do book a table before you go and if you are planning a lunch visit, their kitchen closes at 2:30. Enjoy!
Delicious and huge portions. Hurray – finally a Korean BBQ that serves generous portion sizes. We ordered one of the set bbq options which came with a tofu salad (yummy) and also ordered the kimchi seafood soup. The meat was cooked in front of us on the bbq grill and tasted splendid! I was also very impressed with the amount of soup we got. The bowl size is considerably bigger than the Korean restaurants in central London. The decor of the restaurant is nice. There’s plently of space and not too many tables meaning that diners are not squashed together and have some privacy! My only criticism is the slow service (not due to the staff themselves but the lack of staff). When we went there were only 2 waitresses serving the entire restaurant – they had to serve drinks, cook the bbq meat along with other requests which meant waiting for our drinks and the bill took awhile. I also hear it gets quite busy here (unsurprising considering the quality of the food) so be sure to book before you visit! maomeetsmeat.wordpress.com
