Ate a late lunch of sweet potato soup and fillet steak – in my opinion this food was outstanding the taste and presentation was done with class – even the crunchy garlic slices on the tomato. Great job to you all especially the waitresses who was well informed and very pleasant.
Pleasant Anniversary. I will admit, when I first walked in I felt very uncomfortable. There were no other diners, just a few gents at the bar who all turned round and stared at myself and my fiance as we walked in. It didn’t feel good at all. We waited awkwardly in the middle of the room by the till area, but was told to sit at a booth by a member of staff who then told us we would be served by someone else.A good while later a woman came to serve us and we were pleasantly surprised by how polite and cheery she was, which made us feel a whole lot more comfortable. We ordered our food and waited.I selected the French onion soup for my starter and was shocked when it came out very quickly. And, even though it was fast, it didn’t lack quality of taste. I HIGHLY recommend it. Just be careful in the cast iron pot it’s served in. VERY hot.My main course was also served quickly. I had decided to try the seafood tagliatelle, as I had never tasted crawfish before and was curious. It was not overcooked, the sauce had a lot of flavour and the scallops were incredibly juicy and delicious. However, the crawfish was very dry and chewy and I felt there was too many and it didn’t mesh well. I devoured as much of them as I could though, as the meal was still amazing. The drinks were interesting. I decided to have an old favourite. The white Russian. The hostess serving us kept reminding us that she was still in training, but she decided to have a go at it anyway after I told her how it was made. It may not have been a classic white Russian, but it was still very good and I may have them served like that in future. (Cream on top, vodka and kahlua layered on the bottom.)So, with this in mind, I’d like to give a shoutout to Diane (If that was indeed her name, as it was listed on the bill.) You did a good job. Kind service, friendly chatter and honest. All in all, our anniversary experience started off feeling awkward, but was amazing by the end of it. I’d highly recommend trying Mansion.
