The cost was acceptable and the ambience was good. It’s very crowded and noisy so it’s not the best place if you are looking for silence. The food is good but what I liked the least was the costumer service. They were not very patient with us when we did not know what to choose. They could have helped us but they were just rolling eyes instead.
This is a historic spot close to the river on Tourist Boulevard… Very popular, very crowded with little space for extras like a pram. Decent eggs Benedict but nothing overwhelming about it. I was disappointed with the dry and tasteless chicken mayo bun which I ordered off the kids menu for my son. We got a nicely packed box of macaroons on our way out which were however, a taste sensation. Especially the salted caramel!
Popped in for coffee and some sweet treats. The coffee was amazing and we liked the macaroons and Chelsea bun (their specialty). Lots of other yummy sounding sweets I’d like to try. It was a bit more trendy than cozy, but I did like the decor
Chelsea buns have not extraordinary taste for me. Just I wanted to taste it when I was in cambridge. I remind you that the buns have been consumed at early afternoon. 3 for each inside , 2,5 take away.
This is the kind of place you hope to find in a place like Cambridge. A menu with imagination and all the trimmings of an old tea shop. You will not find better Chelsea buns – the cakes are superb. Some people complain of slow service, but did not see this on a day it was packed and old fashioned tea shops were always like this. I think fast food is a different environment.
It has now closed (early 2011). So sad that we will never again eat Fitzbillies famous Chelsea buns.
