The New Vaults is a snack and cocktail bar nestled under the streets of Central Cambridge. After 15 years in the same place, the venue was bough in 2014 by two young entrepreneurs from London, who since then have set about updating the venue, and a turning it around. It has been redecorated throughout, and now features warm lighting, comfy sofas, and even backgammon tables and ping pong. The Vaults has always been famous for it's cocktails, and nothing has changed here. The menu is short and focused, but the skilled bar tenders are more than happy to make you anything you can't see, or even create you a custom creation. Alongside the cocktails are the beers, wines and ciders. There are 8 different types of beers on offer, which often change, but always include a variety of pale ales, lagers and even a few wheat beers. The food now comes in the form of Gourmet Hot Dogs. The team offer up such creations as The Umami (Smoked Sausage, Tomato Salsa, Olive Oil & Garlic Chives) and the Fat Cat (Frankfurter, Diced Gherkins, Blow Torched Cheese on Ciabatta), all of which have been named after the different venues from around the world that have inspired them. Sides such as Sweet Potato Fries, or Skinny Rosemary Chips tie it all together. Open from 5pm on Weekdays and 12 noon on the Weekends, it's a great place to take the weight of your feet, try something new, and meet friends. There are also a few rooms available for private hire, perfect for events and birthday parties.
