I visited Montys with my brother and we both found it a mixed bag. The menu was authentic and varied and the naan and pickles very good. But on the downside, i found my chicken to be under spiced, the portions were quite small and not great value and our rice was pretty well cold. I woukd like to return to try other dishes from the menu but I’d hope these were seasoned better and with more spice ; and that the portions match the competition
Went there with friends early Friday night. I liked the decor which was clean and bright the food was great tasted of fresh ingredients. Chicken biriani very tasty. Complimentary drink after the meal was a nice touch.
First of all my and my friend were seated opposite a wall and told no1 will see you here? Not a great first impression. There was no hi how are you? Kept asking if we were finished during the meal not once about 6 times. I was hoping the food was going to compensate but it didn’t and to top it all off at the end he dissapeared with my card and the card reader for about a minute??? So upset with the service here I will never go back and will spread the word
The Full Monty. Friends of mine have always raved on about this place being a good curry house in the heart of Kingston and last Sunday I thought I would give it a try. The outside looks modern, but once inside, the decor seemed a little out of date and in need of some attention. Still, was clean and pleasant and larger than expected. There was a buffet on but we chose to pick from the menu and there was quite a selection to choose from. I had one of the special starters, eastern style dumplings, not something normally seen on the menu, and reminded me more of something found in a Chinese. For main course I had Chicken Dansak, with a peshwari nann and Pilau rice, all very tasteful and of generous portions. The Peshwari was packed with flavour not being the typical ones you can get elsewhere. There was a large selection of drinks and a normal wine list all with the expected prices and the service was very prompt and helpful, however, not dressed for table staff at all. Maybe because it was a Sunday. Overall, the place could do with a little make over but nothing major and the staff could be better presented, asides from that, the food was good, very portioned and reasonably priced. Would certainly come here again, good for all, parties and couples.
