Having been a few times with both work and unfortunately with friends once too, I can safely say that the consistently poor and rude service at the Canbury Arms make it not worth going to again. The food is fine; despite the lacklustre lunch menu offerings and ungenerous sandwiches, the evening meals are well cooked and thought out. But the manager at the Canbury has been rude and dismissive in attitude every time I have been and his inattentive nature seems to have been passed on to his waiting staff who always seems slow and uninterested in their customers. If you want to be treated poorly and as if you don’t have a value as a customer, then the Canbury Arms is the pub to go to in Kingston. If you want proper service along with good, reliable pub food, then go elsewhere!
By far my favourite pub to eat in! The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the food is outstanding. I have had the Sunday roast and can happily confirm it is the best I’ve ever had in a pub. The daily specials are always interesting and tasty and I have honestly never had a bad dish!
