This is a cosy traditional Italian dining experience. Having frequented here many times we would recommend the carpaccio and buffalo to start, the T-Bone steak to share & lobster linguine. Lovely little establishment for friends and families.
Mediterraneo is an authentic Italian restaurant with a cosy and ‘family’ vibe. Indeed, it’s the perfect place for a family dinner (a lot of family clients with kids), but I’m not sure I would recommend it for a romantic date. It’s casual, and warm, so if you want to eat a good Italian meal in a relaxed and home-like atmosphere, this is a nice place to try. The staff is very friendly and the service is quite quick.Food is also very tasty. They offer a special menu which changes. This time it was a white truffle themed menu.To begin with we ordered (over-ordered) some starters to share: the grilled smoked mozzarella with porcini mushrooms, the oven baked aubergine parmigiana, and the Buratta. (for 4 people this was a little bit too much) Everything tasted great-the smoked mozarella being my favorite. I then went for pasta, Tortellini with aubergines and mozarella in tomato sauce–very good. My friends had the ricotta ravioli which was great, and my other friend had the sliced beef with spinach in glazed balsamic. If you want a saucy tender and thin meat, I recommend trying this out.And then we weren’t done and ordered a cheescake and a Tiramisu to share: Cheescake was ok, but the Tiramisu was excellent!Plus this place is very well situated, whether for lunch or dinner, Notting Hill is a nice area.
There are quite a few good restaurants in Notting Hill and so you wont be hard-pressed to find a place to have lunch but I definitely recommend coming to Mediterraneo. The food is really authentic and the place has a great atmosphere. The restaurant has high ceilings and is surrounded by large windows, so a lot of light comes into the locale. The waiters are really friendly and a few of them are Italian and they make really good recommendations. Mediterraneo also has a great selection of wine and the waiters know how to recommend what wine to have with your food. Their dishes are a bit expensive but I had a great lunch here. I would definitely recommend having the vitello tonnato, which theyve really gotten right, the tuna sauce is delicious. Id also recommend having the vin santo for desert. I dont often see this in restaurants but it is a really tasty sweet wine in which you dip cantucci biscuits.
Very rude service, average over-priced food.. Incredibly rude, bad service, and fairly average food I have to say, especially considering the steep price. The manager and staff were extremely rude to us when it got to 9.30 and we were told very bluntly that the next customers were waiting and please would we finish our wine and dessert at the bar! When we reminded them that they only brought our main courses at 8.50 (we all noticed that as we waited a fair while, and the food came at different times too), they accused us of ordering late. We ordered by 7.45pm after being sat for 15 minutes, and hassled for an order….enough said. Tell you what, I never write reviews, but was so appalled by the disgusting treatment and over-priced evening that I have done so now, and hope others take this as a warning.
Cosy…Atmospherically Loud…Magical.. This restaurant seems to fill up quickly – it’s pretty small…(I prefer ‘cosy’)…but there is such a buzz when it’s full. The waiters are attentive, the food is incredible (in both choice of pastas, meats, fish…mmmm mouth-watering), and if you are in the right company it can quite easily make for the perfect evening… 🙂
Tuesday Night after Spurs late night eats!. On a Tuesday night we were way up north in Tottenham to see the Spurs destroy Sunderland. Great game, but the Tube was down so we had to walk quite a bit and eventually got a cab that took us back to Notting Hill. We tried a few other restaurants but none would take us in because of the time of night. However, when we got to mediterraneo, we we welcomed with open arms. We all had Pasta, and I swear that I had the best Tagliatelle ever. Perfectly cooked and topped with a lamb ragu. The food came out quickly so our starving kids were happy. They did not rush us so we enjoyed our meal and a nice Aglianico to wash it all down. When I return to London, I will certainly head back to Mediterraneo!
Comfort. I love this place, travel all the way from Basildon, it is mine and my partners fave place to eat. Never eaten squid so good, even in the mediterranian, softest squid you will ever eat. Always had a warm welcome!
