This is a lovely Italian neighbourhood restaurant in Notting Hill. Great atmosphere with lots of candles and rustic furniture. There’s lots of Italians in the restaurant which is always a good sign. Free bread with excellent olive oil before you start your meal. I had truffle pasta which was to die for – great taste, high quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. The Tiramisu is also delicious and you get a huge portion. Prices are more than fair. Highly recommended!

Yesterday was not a health oriented day. Four of us went marching out to Notting Hill for an adventure. Italian was the order of the day. We got a table at Osteria Basilico. We were seated in the basement of the restaurant which was quite efficiently packed with tables of patrons enjoying lunches including a family seated next to us that was having a Christmas celebration. Service was speedy. We ordered pasta and pizzas to share. The vongole spaghetti was deliciously balanced with tomato. The clams themselves were small but beautifully cooked. We had a Parma ham and rocket pizza topped with Parmesan shavings. The centre of the pizza was a little heavy with cheese while edges were light and slightly puffed. We accompanied the meal with a light 2014 Nero d’Avola Fidelo. Unlike South African wines, many European reds are very light and perfect for the chilly day without being too heavy to pair with tomatoey seafood. The meal came to 93.50 for four, including service charge. I’m told is moderately priced for a Notting Hill restaurant. We arrived hungry and left very happily sated.

Average Italian food in notting hill. I would recommend their sister company restaurant mediterneo. Their service was horrible. I wouldn’t go there again.

Nice place for a slice of traditional Italiano. Atypical Italian service, accompanied by good wholesome food. One of a few places who offer carpaccio manzo the way it should be, rather than fobbing their customers off by serving bresoala. If it’s there, do try the osso bucco – cooked very well oozing with flavour. Make sure you’ve booked in advance, as turning up on spec often leaves people disappointed. I prefer the tables upstairs, but either way it’s the food you’re there for.

Cramped, poor service. I was looking forward to eating at this restaurant as it was the favourite of the girl I was dating. I had seafood starter and mixed seafood main which was over cooked, I found the service to be poor and the staff rather rude as they couldn’t keep their eyes off my girlfriend bust. Typical Italians with no couth. This is my first ever review as I just found the staff to be so rude so I thought I should let other know.

Thieves, simply thieves. Lovely atmosphere at this classic italian in Notting Hill. Shame they are outright thieves. A first course of pasta on the menu is about 10.5. The waitress suggests the pasta of the day – with white truffles. Everybody knows truffles are expensive so you know its going to be steeper. Perhaps 18 to 25 was my guess. Double the current rate. No, the bill shows 45. Almost 5 times. For a plate of pasta with a few white truffle grating on it. No warning whatsoever. I also asked for house red. They brought Chianti at 29/bottle. This, again is outrageous. Complaint to the local delinquent boss was met with surprise. No apologies. No effort to recognize they had knowingly fooled us. Stay well away from this dreadful thieves-run joint.
