Okay place for drinks, they have a large selection of beers and ales and quite unique as well. The service was a little slow, but the staff are friendly and I particularly like the outdoor seating. I plan to return in summer, then it should be perfect.
Good decoration. Bad service. Slow and no profissional service. Very high prices. Typical pub. Don’t go when have a Portobelo Marketing. Is terrible and wait very time for a table.
Lovely lunch in this pub, beautiful and bright, different from my idea of a pub. We were seated next to the big window, watching people walking in Portobello, and had a tasty fish & chips and tasted a couple of beers. Nice experience! pattylovesbaking.wordpress.com
The Prince Albert has the distinct possibility of becoming a favorite if it weren’t for the slightly lethargic service. Drinks are reasonable, if not a tad pricey, and the selection is pretty good. The bar tenders are really nice but seem a bit slow. I was left waiting for nearly 10 minutes for service despite a lack of other customers. The draw for me is their outdoor beer garden area. Ample tables and stools are available, and the funky murals make for a youthful and cheerful atmosphere. Rather than have loads of plants or vines on the fence, they have painted florals all over.Good for a group of friends!
Asked for foil/wrapper/anything to take food home and was told its ‘against their rules’ and would have ‘three pages to fill out.’I’m not joking. No character whatsoever.
We had a team work Christmas dinner here following a recommendation from a colleague that the Sunday roast dinner here is amazing.I had high expectations which unfortunately were not met. The pub itself is spacious yet cosy. The dim lighting creates a warm atmosphere. The portion size was generous, however the food was disappointing, not only for me but the majority of my colleagues. I had:Duck & port pate with toast and red onion chutney – The pate was missing sweetness.Turkey, roast potatoes, honey roasted parsnips, Brussel sprouts, marmalade glazed carrots, stuffing, bread sauce, cranberry jelly – The turkey was dry and lacked flavour. The roast potatoes were not crispy.Lemon tart- Wayyyy too sour. None of my colleagues that chose this dish were able to finish it.Hygiene was also an issue. I did not enter the toilets but my colleagues described it as ‘disgusting’ and ‘revolting’ and that they had informed a staff member that it was unacceptable. As a result, the staff put an ‘out of order’ sign on the door.Overall I would not suggest going here for Christmas dinner.. maomeetsmeat.wordpress.com
Great venue let down by poor service. I was there today early trying to order food at the bar at 5pm. The bar was empty went I got there and the bar tender had her back to me. Two girls came up and she served them, fair enough ladies first. Then another couple arrived at the other side of the bar a few minutes later and she told me to wait as they were first. Not sure if the menu I was holding made me low priority but waiting literally 5 – 10 minutes at previously completely empty bar was poor so we walked out with our 50 unspent in our pocket.
