Having searched for an authentic halal chinese restaurant that serves no pork, Maximini was the first to pop out on my search results. Looking through the menu, I fixated on trying it out. We went to the restaurant around 10pm (an hour before they close). If youre driving there, parking is a hassle. There is only one side (fits about 3 cars) with a single yellow line to park). The other side is permit holders only. So, leave yourself some extra time for your journey, in case the spaces are occupied. I entered the restaurant and there was no one at the front. When a man cam out, I asked him for a table of two. He didnt even look at me. He wasnt friendly or welcoming. Simply told me wait 2 minutes, bearing in mind that there were empty tables. After about 5 minutes, we (2 people) were seated. The ambience of the whole restaurant was quite nice. It gave the whole chinese experience. I ordered a fried chicken noodle, chilli chicken and chicken and sweet corn soup. Bear in mind that everything is halal. They do serve alcohol though. They have a wide range of choices in the menu. I do believe some things are fairly priced, like the soup which was around 5-6. Others are not, like two prawns for the same price. The noodles were priced around 10 which I thought was fair because of the portion but the chicken in chilli sauce was much less for the same price as the noodles. I ordered the chicken in chilli sauce because it was one of the spicy items on the menu. Dont be fooled. It was nowhere near spicy. They gave a chilli sauce on the side. I wouldnt be ordering the chicken again, because in my opinion, it has a funny sweet taste to it. I cant put my finger on it, but the taste is very unusual for me. The noodles and soup, however, were the star of my dinner. They were delicious. Enough for 2 to share as well. Tip: dont use their pepper. I added it to the soup and it ended up tasting weird. I asked for water and the glass smelled really funny. I couldnt take a sip. I didnt even want to ask for another glass. I just waited until we were back in the car to drink water. The toilets are downstairs. They look really cute but are really small in terms of height. The ceiling reached my head and I had to bend slightly. I am 55 so not that tall for a girl. The whole experience was really nice, apart from the not so welcoming staff and smelly glass. Chopsticks as well as forks were provided. My bill came down to 36 with 4 optional service charge. (This was not optional. It was just added to our bill.) Considering we only had three items and a drink, 36 is a bit expensive for one person. My partner didnt order but ended up sharing mine. If he had ordered his own share, we wouldve spent about 50 minimum, which is a bit too pricey for me. Id rather have a donor kebab. Regardless of everything, the food was delicious. If I am in the area, not on a budget and craving chinese, Ill definitely pop by.

It’s a partner restaurant with Jimmy Choo, nice Chinese food and nice environment. Price is affordable and staffs are very friendly. By the way, you can use gourmet society card to claim 25% off total bill. About 40 for 2 people with drinks.

Located in Lancaster Gate, this restaurant owned by Jimmy choo has great Chinese dishes that should be tried. Halal- yes Recommendation- hot and sour soup, chicken cashew nut, chicken sweet and sour , crispy beef with chilli sauce and Penang noodles.

What: Halal Chinese RestaurantReview: Best halal chinese I have been to in a while. Great food and atmosphere. Portion size was plenty and resonable prices for a special occasion meal. Also, halal duck dishes are hard to come by so this offered a great twist to the usual chinese dishes on offer.Positives: Friendly service, halal duckNegetives: non-alcoholic drinks are limited 3 words: delectable and positive ambience sobernstarving.com

My friends and I went to Maximini for dinner last night we could not believe the service – IT WAS APPALLING!!!Wong Kei’s service is FIVE Stars compared to the service received at Maximini. The whole experience of Maximini was a complete farce from booking right up until we left the restaurant. When I originally made the booking over the phone the lady was rude and abrupt, I thought ok maybe she’s having a bad day. It turns out that was just the beginning:1. We turn up to the restaurant to be greeted by the waitress with her back to us. 2. We are shown to our table with a grunt and arbitrary gesture to a nearby table.3. They come for the food order before the drinks order.4. We had a Taste London card and were berated because the card holder (present) did not make the booking.5. The wrong discount was taken off the bill, when asked if this could be address (their mistake) – the manager/owner acted inconvenienced and would not reprint the bill.6. I have never done this before, but the service was THAT BAD!!! We asked for the service charge to be removed – again the manager/owner then said pay what you want. We asked her to clarify exactly how much it is we owed but she wouldn’t, so between us(3) we paid 40 to then have the manager/owner come back to say we were 30p short.Recommend this place, NO WAY JOSE!!!–Rating–Food = 4 (detracted by the poor service)Service = 0Value = 3Ambience = 0 (due to poor service)toilets = 5Recommend = 0 (absolutely not)
