Ayam beladamerah, Rendang, Ayam Bawang Putih and Tahu Telor are the best menus from this resto. Located near to Edgware Road Station, Melur has pretty big place although a bit dim. It is recommended if you want to make a quite big supper with family and friends for it has a special room for this occasion. Another best thing about this restaurant is its seasonal pineapple cake. Usually, they sell it on Iedul Fitr. So delicate!

Dates of visit – 14.02.14 and 28.03.14Edgware Road is popular for its many Arab restaurants that all share a similar menu, walking down the street you smell a mixture of flavours from people smoking away in the cold night on Shisha. Almost hidden away along this road in a basement is the Malaysian Melur, it’s very easy to miss due to its lack of a presence among its neighbours. Anyway, I have been here twice but on my first trip didnt really have my review cap on, but I did remember it enough to know that I liked the food. I visited it again with a very large group of over 30 people; however I dived off into 3 friends. Melur is situated underground, so there no natural light, the dcor is rather simple yet spacious, loads of seats and large tables. Nothing much to say here. We all decided to go straight for main course and not mess about, not the easiest thing as the menu as a wide selection of appealing food, from Veggie, Fish, Chicken and Beef, dishes were also labelled spicy or non. I opted for the Gulai Kambing, which is hot curry cooked in a rich, spicy and succulent sauce. There was a very strong fusion of flavours, with lemon grass being the over ridding taste. The lamb was very tender and the portion size was very generous. Im a an of coconut based curry’s and this very green curry was really tasty and brought back memories of when I went to Malaysia.I also tried the Beef Rendang Daging, a slow cooked beef curry in coconut gravy. The dish was mild and cooked with a balance of delicate flavours that really brought out the taste of the beef. I also tried the Ayam Maask Chill Chicken, which is what seemed like large strips off chicken cooked with loads of chill, this was a simple non curry based dish. Service wise, well, because we came with a very large group, it took some time for us to place our order due to a lack of menus; however we didnt have to wait too long for our food to arrive all things considered. Food wise, this place is very good, there is a lot of choice on the menu and I like the authentic taste of the dishes I had. I haven’t been to many Malaysian/Indonesian in London, Banana Tree is the only other that comes to mind in recently, so this place is going to be up there due to its inexpensive menu and good food. Each curry was coming in at around 8, the total bill was 33 inc service, no drinks. I would definitely recommend. Food – 4Value – 4.5Service – 3.5Atmosphere – 3.5 halalfoodguy.co.uk
