If this is chic, it’s certainly shabby. They’re there to accommodate themselves rather than the customer. Pricey, no half portions, no doggy bags and if you ask for one you’re practically shouted down with fake health and safety bullshit. When a burly bar tender in their 30s shouts down a female customer in her late 50s you know it’s not a place to be, certainly not a place to eat.

Perfecto. The Bartender and Barmaid were young and friendly and patient with an awkward American. Thank goodness the clientele was more local so that the atmosphere was not diluted by such as me. (The pub is just a short walk from the Hilton London Metropole.) The pints, the leeks and pork sausage, and the banoffee pie were all, well, perfecto. Got to recommend it very highly!

What A Nice Surprise. Didn’t expect that much from a 69% like it rating. Boy did 31% have it wrong as far as I am concerned. All menu items change daily and the chef is proud of this fact. I’m a Californian, but this feels like a pub should feel. The food is first rate. Braised pork bellies, guinea hen, sea bream, etc. all very good.

Really good pub. Went on a busy Thursday night and had a hard time finding a table that was free. Several tables said ‘Reserved’ but in the whole hour plus that we were there nobody showed up so that was a bit annoying. The food was fantastic. I had the pork belly roast which I already added as a review – really good if you like that rich fatty food. Definitely recommend it especially for the area it’s in – there wasn’t much else around.02 Dec, 2010Pork belly roast. I had this tonight and it was amazing. It came with potatoes and brussel sprouts in a fantastic sauce. It’s a bit fatty of course given the dish but the outside of the pork had a nice crispy texture. I was really blown away how good it was for pub food. My friend had the burger and thought it was excellent as well.
